Fun at the Beach

Oh, how wonderful it would be to live near the ocean! This Midwesterner would LOVE to have fun at the beach.  To feel the sand between her toes! To bask in the shade of a colorful beach umbrella! To watch the tide come rolling in! It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

fun at the beach

This week, sweet Stef is hosting our theme challenge. She has selected a fun theme perfect for summer:  Beach Time! My beach scene comes complete with sea gulls, a colorful beach ball, sand castles and sea shells. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

What a fun theme! I love it when I get to create little scenes. This time it looks like I tried to incorporate every iconic beach image. The “designer” in me relished paper piecing the beach chair and umbrella in colors and patterns of my choosing. I also had fun creating the “sandscape”.  This is not a card that can be created in minutes.  However, it is a card that allows for so much creative freedom…and a LOT of die cutting!

  1. Beautiful card! The scene you designed looks like you have been at the beach your entire life!

  2. Ann, what a fabulous scene and I LOVE the colors you used. Oh… the seagull… thanks for bringing back the memory of the seagull at Land’s End in England… he flew right between hubby and I and stole the entire Cornish Pastie my hubby was about to take a bit out of. I love that your card evoked that long lost memory…. thats the joy of a handmade card!

What a fabulous card Ann! I have dreams of retiring to somewhere near the seaside and your little scene would suit me perfectly! I love all of the little details – a beachy visual feast!

  4. Fun, fun, fun! I LOVE all the little beachy elements, especially that pretty paper-pieced umbrella! The little sand castles get me every time!

  5. Oh, Ann! You need to come back out here to the Left Coast and enjoy the Pacific Ocean again. Of course, here on the Oregon coast, the water is chilly but the sun is less intense, therefore it’s easier to sit on the beach and relax. Most people don’t know that 99% of the Oregon coastline is publicly owned, which means leisurely walks can often go on for hours and miles!

That card is perfect for August beach days!

  6. What a fun card!!! I want to be in that chair on that beach and I’m not really a beach person!!!

  7. What a beauty! The more I look, the more wonderful things I see. The embossed frame is great but then there’s the lovely paper pieced umbrella and chair, the layers of beach, the gulls… it’s just marvellous!

  8. Ann, you’ve created a delightful scene, and with that fabulous frame again! Love the colors you used in the paper piecing and carrying it over to the beach ball. Every element is perfect! The beach is a great place to be, especially this time of year.

  9. I wish I were sitting in that beach chair! Great card!

  10. Elizabeth Stewart

Ann… just delightful and oh, so serene!

  11. I love, love your card!!! I especially like how you cut out the center & then embossed it before doing the beach scene. The little dots around the opening really add interest. The beach scene is adorable!! GREAT card, Ann! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Love this card!

  13. Lots of color on this sweet card. Love the layout

  14. I’m not much of a beach person type, but do like all the little details you have put into your beautiful card.
    Enjoy the weekend. Stay safe.
