It’s a Spec-Taco-Lar day and I have a Spec-Taco-Lar way to let someone know how Spec-Taco-Lar they are.  It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Spec-Taco-LarThis week, the super talented Anne Marie is hosting our monthly Clean and Simple challenge. The theme she selected for us is sure to fill the gallery with giggles:  Lots of Laughs – Humorous cards and/or “punny” images and sentiments. While I opted for a funny, punny taco card, I can’t wait to see what YOU create. But remember, this is a CLEAN and SIMPLE challenge.  Before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, keep in mind that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I rarely create a humorous or punny card, but when the now retired Taco Fiesta stamp set was released, I had to have it. After all, who can resist cacti and tacos sporting mustaches? Plus, Nueve’s “bestie”, Michelle, LOVES tacos.  They are her favorite food.  So with lots of help from me, Nueve created this card for her.  Actually, he laid beside me while I created it. His lack of opposable thumbs clearly makes stamping difficult for him. Today’s card features a plethora of retired products, and I apologize for that. But sometimes I just have to use my stash.  A layer of Tahitian Tide cardstock, embossed with the retired Dots embossing folder (from the Checks & Dots set), was layered onto a Parakeet Party card base.  The images were colored with Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Tahitian Tide blends and markers. I am really happy that I still have my retired Classic Label punch.  It was perfect for punching out the sentiment!

Nueve’s Notes

Hi, everyone! It’s me! Good Boy Nueve!  I am in Oshkosh, WI doing my favorite thing, playing show dog.  I was extra good Saturday and won Best of Breed and I won a BIG ribbon for Third Place in the Working Group.

We went to Oshkosh after Westminster. Dad did a really great job driving in New York City. He made it to the show site and didn’t get in a wreck. Mom didn’t even have to close her eyes.  It was at a King’s place – King Billie Jean.

While I didn’t win a ribbon, I still looked handsome. Mom didn’t get any pictures taken except for one when I was showing ’cause it was super crowded and it was drizzly. But here I am waiting in my crate for my time to be in the ring.

spec-taco-larMom or Dad or both are always at my crate when I am at a show. They never leave me by myself. Here I am with Michelle in the waiting area before it is my time to show.  I don’t think you can see them, but Michelle has sparkles on her legs.

spec-taco-larHere I am being judged. I think I look very handsome.

spec-taco-larI felt sad that I didn’t get a ribbon. I had beaten the dogs who got ribbons before. But Mom explained to me that it’s just one judge’s opinion on that day, and that I am still a winner in her eyes.  She was very proud of me.  Dad said I was the handsomest boy out there and that he was proud of me, too.  Michelle was really happy with how I showed and that she was SO proud of me. She said she got lots of messages from people who said I looked awesome. That made me feel better.  Making my people proud of me is part of my job. I am a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!
