Lavender Birthday

Lavender is one of my favorite flowers. Its roots trace back over 2500 years. In ancient Egypt, lavender was used during the mummification process, while the Greeks used it to treat a variety of ailments, such as headaches. Throughout the ages, lavender has represented purity, devotion, serenity, and calmness, and is still a staple in wedding bouquets and floral arrangements. And in my mind, what could be better than a lavender birthday card? It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

lavender birthdayThis week I am hosting our monthly Color Challenge. I decided on spring hues of Lost Lagoon, Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia and ONE other color of your choice. Please note that Black and White are FREE colors, so you have lots of colors with which to play.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Nueve, my husband Kim, and I are on the road for over a month of dog shows. Because we travel in a mini-van, I do not have spare space to haul stamps, papers, and inks. And even if I could, I do not find motel rooms to be the most conducive to stamping. SO before we left, I had to create six cards to post. My motto was “Work smarter, not harder!” And what better way to work smarter than to let the paper do the work!  For today’s card, the workhorse is this amazing paper from the January 2024 Lovely Lavender Paper Pumpkin kit. It had the shades I needed, plus this particular card front came with a die cut window. How quick and easy was that! I created a little nosegay using the Painted Lavender stamp set and coordinating dies, and tied it all up with White Baker’s Twine. I wanted the sentiment to be a tad smaller as to not detract from the focal image, so like Goldilocks, I found one that was just right in the newly retired Let’s Go Shopping stamp set. I die cut it out with a label die from the retired Cracker and Treat Box die set. If you would like to create this card and you don’t have this retired sentiment set or die set, there are many other options available.  Shop your stash.  You may find something even better!

Nueve’s Notes

Hi, Everyone! It’s me…Good Boy Nueve! I’ve been at the BIGGEST Boxer Dog Show in the WORLD! It’s in Indian-apple-us. I didn’t get a big ribbon, but I had lots of fun because on Monday night I was one of 14 Boxers who got to run around the ring in the dark with a BIG light on me. They played my special song, and I got a medal. The one man has my medal, but he gave it back.

Nueve Top Twenty

Michelle had on a long, fancy orange dress.  She asked Mom if she could go with her bear feet ’cause her fancy shoes kept getting caught in her dress. Even though everyone else had on shoes, my mom said Michelle could go with bear feet. I really wanted to see bear feet, but all Michelle had were ordinary toes.  Lots of people cheered and clapped for us. Afterwards, Michelle cried ’cause she was so proud of me!

Nueve Top Twenty

We got lots of pictures taken. Michelle’s fancy dress looked really pretty on her. It was funny when we ran, because it would brush up against me.  She had flowers in her hair, too! My Mom really loved this next picture of us.

Nueve Top Twenty

I really like my song. It was funny. It was from a movie about a monkey named Curious George. You can listen to it if you want to. (Mom thinks she got it loaded into the post correctly.) It made me happy and made my tail wag! Let me know if it makes your tail wag, too!

Well, Mom said I got to go. Tomorrow we leave for a place called New York City to show in one of the biggest dog shows in the world:  Westminster!  I hope Dad knows how to get there. I don’t want to go to Old York City.  I trust that he will get us there safely.  After all, trusting Mom and Dad to keep me safe is just one of the things I do. I am a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve.
