Horse And Sleigh Winter Fun Card

Ready for a little horse and sleigh winter fun?  It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

This week sweet, sweet Claire is hosting our Clean and Simple challenge.  She has selected the theme of “Winter Fun”!  I don’t know how winter has been in your neck of the woods, but here in my part of Iowa we ended up with 24+” of snow and multiple days of wind chill warnings.  It was perfect weather for staying inside and stamping!  I opted for a sleigh ride for my winter fun card.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create. But remember, this is a CLEAN and SIMPLE challenge.  Before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, remember that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I love the Horse and Sleigh bundle.  Although it recently became unavailable, I brought it out for today’s card.  Like most of my favorite sets, it brings back memories. When I was growing up, we owned a wonderful part-Arabian gelding. His name was Bey Mouni.  “Moonie” was broke to drive, and even though we did not own a sleigh, we did have a cart to which I would hitch him.  How I would have loved a sleigh like this Cherry Cobbler beauty, gliding effortlessly over sparkly, shimmery snow!  With icy trees dotting the landscape and snow gently falling, what perfect winter fun to be riding in a one-horse open sleigh!

  1. Ann, what is more fun than a sleigh ride in the snow! I love how you used this set and leaving off a sentiment allows us to focus on this fabulous focal image. the embossing folder adds wonderful texture without detracting from the image. Fabulous card

  2. Just lovely! I can remember my grandmother talking about riding in a sleigh during the winters they had! Such fond memories and your scene is just perfect!

  3. Joanne James - The Crafty Owl

This is such an elegant card Ann – and just the kind of winter fun suited to a lady of my advancing years! So beautiful with the embossed and sparkly snow too.

  4. Ann, this is just perfect for my challenge! I love this gorgeous winter scene. I would love to take a ride in that sleigh! I love the embossed background and the white on white. CAS perfection! Thank you for sharing that fabulous childhood memory , too. I got a tear in my eye. My Daddy used to hook our sleds to his tractor and pull us in the snow. The joys of growing up in the Mid-West! We were the lucky ones!

  5. This looks like so much fun!! I can imagine myself in that sleigh!! I’m am a fan of clean and simple cards. Hope y’all stay bundled up. Adding this to my files to case it in the future!!!

  6. Your card today is so appropriate for our weather right now! I really had not planned on getting that set (or the dsp) but……..too many great card ideas started showing up so it is now in my collection. I really love the simplicity of your card with all of that white snowy background to show off the sleigh!

  7. That is fantastic! I didn’t even consider that stamp set because it looked kind of “mushy” to me, like not enough detail, but you really brought out the best in it!! Thanks for sharing. BTW, it’s only 39 degrees here in Sunny Florida!!
