Today’s holiday card will hopefully be making someone’s spirits bright in just a few weeks! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!
It’s color challenge week at The Paper Players and the amazingl talented Joanne has a very timely color combo for us to play with:
For my “color of choice” I went with Basic White. While I created a holiday card to add to my stash, I can’t wait to see what YOU create!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Oh my gosh! If only you could see all of the changes this card evolved through until it was finally completed. I always felt that one of my strengths as a card maker was my ability to combine lovely designer series papers of various patterns and hues. However, no matter how hard I tried to combine several of the gorgeous holiday papers I have in my Stampin’ Up! stash, I just couldn’t make them work with this layout. In my frustration, I tossed everything into my “Pile of Misfit Card Parts”. Call it fate. Call it a happy little accident. Call it luck. The Real Red banner, matted onto Distressed Gold and Shaded Spruce, happened to land on top of a small piece of Basic White cardstock which had been embossed using the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder, my “go-to” embossing folder of late. That’s when it hit me – I needed to use embossed cardstock as my backdrop for the gorgeous Distressed Gold die cut and classic banner. And the rest, as they say, is history.

This card is GORGEOUS!!!!! I love ALL the gold and sparkle! The red and green banners are just perfect to bring in the color combo!!!!!! Such a fun sentiment, too! Have a lovely weekend!!!
Ann, Your card turned out gorgeous! My card making motto is- “When nothing works, emboss the background”. Most every time it works. My favorite part is the red banner.
Well, Ann, I would never think this was anything but perfectly put together! But I know the feeling of trying too hard to make something work and ending in frustration. Anyway, I absolutely love everything about your card – especially that “Christmas Classics” die. It would certainly make my spirits bright!
Xoxo, Fran
Ann, I love all that fabulous texture. The red, along with the touches of gold add a wonderful touch of richness.

Glad your happy accident led you to this beautiful card! I always think embossing makes a card look exceptionally elegant, especially when paired with these colors! Just stellar!
I just love this die Ann and I’m so glad your ‘throw it all in the box’ action gave you the answer – I think a white background really helps show off these colours and that brushed gold is so stunning!
I love your color combo, It looks blue on my screen, but the supplies show Shaded Spruce. Either Way, the gold, red, and green come together so nicely.
Hi Ann, your cards are always, always so beautiful. I look forward to see your creativity every week.
Absolutely delicious. At first, not being a fan of blue, I didn’t know what to say, then I scrolled down and saw the white and fell in love.
