Floral Birthday Card

Nothing says “Happy Birthday” like a bold sentiment on a floral birthday card! It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

floral birthday cardThis week I have the pleasure of hosting our monthly color challenge at The Paper Players. I hope you like the colors I picked. While I went the floral route, I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

If you like bold and beautiful, the “Wanted To Say” die collection may be right up your alley. I love the scripts they used in creating the four sentiments. While I used a floral background, these sentiments look fabulous on simpler backgrounds, too. However, this card will be heading off to Nueve’s bestie, Michelle, and she is a “flowery” kind of gal…so flowers it was!

Nueve’s Notes

Hey, everyone! It’s me! Nueve! Mom, Dad, Sixxy and I are still on the road playing show dog.  Last weekend we were in Lima, Oh-Hi-Oh. This weekend we are in two places. I showed in Ill-of-Noise on Friday and then we drove to MeSheGan so I could show two more days.  Then tomorrow (Monday) we will all be back in Ill-of-Noise. Before we left for Lima, Mom made sure Sixxy and I played and ran in the yard a lot.  I had all of my sloth toys out with me.  Mom has to find more Sloth balls, because mine isn’t squeaking very good. It’s because Sixxy tried to eat its squeaky maker.  She’s destructive.

Because Oh-Hi-Oh is kind of far away from us, we stayed in a motel on the way. I like to stay in motels. Sometimes the motels are really fancy and sometimes they are just normal. All of us like the normal ones, especially the ones where the door opens right up to the outside, like the Red Woof Inn.

Nueve and Sixx in the Red Roof Inn

It was really hot in Oh-Hi-Oh.  But I did really good. I won Best of Breed twice.  Mom likes to take pictures of Michelle and me when we do good.  I like getting pictures taken, ’cause Michelle and I get to be silly, like we were in this one when we both looked away from Mom.

Nueve and MichelleAnd like in this one where Michelle told me I had something on my teeth. I didn’t, but she thought it was funny.

Michelle and Nueve

Mom, in her “Mom voice” said it was too hot to be messing around and that we needed to focus.  So I looked at Michelle, and Michelle looked at me, and we decided we had better be good.  Sometimes Mom just has to be a mom.

Later we went to have tacos.  Michelle couldn’t take her big van, ’cause it was hooked up to a trailer and ‘lectricity, so we all had to ride in our van. Because we didn’t have enough seats, Michelle rode in a crate, like me.  But that’s OK, ’cause we have big crates so Sixxy and I can stretch out. Michelle got to stretch out, too.

While Mom, Dad and Michelle ate tacos, I snuggled up with my ‘corn, and dreamed about showing and winning.  Sixxy, on the other hand, stuffed her toys in her water bucket.  When Mom got back to the van and saw what had happened, she called her by her full “Bad Girl Name”, Sixx Louise Schach.

Nueve and Michelle

As always, I was a good boy. Dreaming about winning while your people eat tacos is just part of the job.  I am a working dog! I am Good Boy Nueve!

Ann those gorgeous florals and that bold sentiment make for a fabulous pairing – I’m sure Michele will love it! A beautiful colour combo this week and a great write up of your travels too!

  6. Ann, you really showcased how fabulous these colors are with this wonderful floral masterpiece! Oh…… and I agree with the comment about writing a children’s book based on the adventures of your babies!

  7. Ann! I love coming to your site and seeing your beautiful card creations! I have to admit, I LOVE your Nueve Notes almost as much!!! I’m an elementary music teacher in Arizona and am wondering if you’ve ever thought of putting together a children’s book of Nueve’s adventures? You have a talent for writing and I know students would love to read and learn about a working dog like Nueve. Just a thought. Have a blessed week!

  8. I really love the colors you chose! The card is gorgeous and the .pdf really explains very well how you did it. I’m going to give it a try.

We have never stayed in a “Red Woof Inn”. I get a real chuckle out of Nueve’s “words”. Congratulations to Nueve and his winnings. Sixx sounds like she is a little ornery? Did she look sorry for soaking her toys? lol

  9. Those dies are on my want list—really pretty card. Congrats to Nueve and hugs to both him and Sixx (even if she soaks her toys).

  10. Bonnielee McGuire

Fantastic! I saw the card and thought holy wow! then I saw it was for Michelle and knew it was perfect! I don’t think I will get “squeaky maker” out of my head. And that picture of Michelle in the crate is really stunning! Thanks for sharing your wonderful cards and life.

  11. Such a lovely card and cool color combination as well.
Congratulations Nueve. Hugs to you and Sixx both
    Stay safe and stay cool
