Everybody ready for a One-Layer Wonder challenge? It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!
It’s Clean and Simple Week at The Paper Players and the fantastic Jaydee has a fun theme for us: One-Layer Wonder! I used the partial embossing technique on my card, which features an image from In The Moment. I can’t wait to see what YOU create. But before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, remember that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:
Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered
Colors Of The Day
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
Today’s challenge, while definitely challenging for someone like me who likes lots of layers, was fun! In keeping with the clean and simple requirements, I left plenty of white space and used only a snippet of ribbon as an embellishment. To be perfectly honest, I had planned on having a sentiment in the lower right section of the card. But you know what? I wasn’t thinking and had already used the partial embossing technique. There was no way I could stamp on top of the Twisted Rope embossing and because this was a one-layer card, I couldn’t add a label either. However, there is plenty of room on the inside to add one. Stampin’ Blends made quick work of coloring the image.

Ann, obviously I’m going to have to check out your tutorial to see how the heck you managed the partial embossing – that had me scratching my head! I like the comment above about your card being peaceful and relaxing, and there was no need to add the “chatter” of a sentiment! Lovely card.
Xoxo, Fran
Well, that partial embossing technique is pretty darn cool, Ann! It’s like you added a layer…but you didn’t. And that is how you master that one-layer wonder, my friend. Such a fun card!
Ann, this is lovely! I love how you partially embossed the background. Your image is just so perfect for some many occasions. I often think cards are better without a sentiment. You rocked this challenge! I know CAS is hard for you, too!
Ann, sometimes a card without sentiment is just the ticket. This image could be perfect for so many occasions. I love how you created so much texture around the focal image. Fabulous card
hugs

Wow, that partial embossing is a neat trick, and it left a perfect spot for your pretty image. Just delightful, calm & serene!
I love the partially embossed frame Ann – such a great way to frame that image. I don’t think it needs a sentiment on the front either – it would detract from the image itself. A beautiful CAS card!
I love this card and think it looks perfect without a sentiment! I’ll have to give partial embossing a try.
I find this card relaxing and peaceful looking.
I love the simplicity of your creation and have downloaded the tutorial. Thank you for that! I wonder if that gal is waiting for her ship to come in? Have a blessed day.
So not you but very beautiful!
