Daisies for Any Occasions

I like to have a supply of cards that are ready when I need them.  If you are like me, you may like today’s Daisies for Any Occasion card.  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

daisies for any occasionThis month we have five Sundays, which means it is Tic-Tac-Toe week at The Paper Players. Tic-Tac-Toe is my favorite challenge, and the fabulous Anne Marie has a wonderful board for us.  I picked the horizontal row across the middle: ribbon, die cut, patterned paper.  I can’t wait to see what YOU pick!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The new Countryside Inn designer series paper meets the Cheerful Daisies dies on today’s card.  Aren’t these daisies amazing? All three daisies and the leaves are connected to make one stunning focal feature. As always, Stampin’ Up!’s patterns coordinate beautifully. I made certain to use more subtle patterns for the circle and the banner, since I used a busier pattern I for the background.  This designer paper collection definitely has me “singing the blues”.  Of course, to meet the sparkle criteria on the Tic-Tac-Toe grid, I added a very liberal sprinkling of rhinestones.  In person, they look like twinkling stars across a night sky.

Nueve’s Notes

Hi, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! Mom said I can’t talk long today, ’cause we are off on another adventure.  But before we go, we had something really scary happen to us. We had a flat tire. Sometimes when I get tired, I lay down flat, and rest up. But when a tire on a van does that, it is a bad thing. And what is even badder, is that we didn’t have an extra tire.  Dad was really mad, and Mom was upset. They have owned our van for 8 years, and never had a flat tire before. The extra tire is supposed to be UNDER the front of the van on the outside where you can’t see it. Dad used a special tool to crank down the holder, and it was empty! He had to call a tow-er truck to take the van home.  BUT Sixxy and I couldn’t ride in the van when it was being pulled on the tow-er truck.  We had NO WAY to get home. Mom didn’t know who to call, so she put a message on Facebook asking for help. One of her students from when she was a teacher a long time ago, came to our rescue. She is a science teacher just like Mom was. Her name was Wendy.  Here I am, waiting for someone to save me.  Luckily I had my ‘corn with me.  That’s Sixxy in the back. She had to be rescued, too.

And in other news, Mom said I couldn’t go to Westminster. It’s a BIG dog show in New York City. We got accepted to go, but Michelle couldn’t drive us there ’cause she had to be back in “India Apple Us” on Wednesday, so she was going to have to fly there and back. I don’t know how she flies, because I have never seen her wings. They must be hidden under her sparkly dog show clothes.  Anyway, Dad said there was NO WAY he was going to drive in New York City!  So we decided not to go.  It was probably a good idea, because I know my dad.  He wouldn’t be able to drive in lots of traffic.  All of my show information arrived in the mail. It was still neat to look at!

Westminster

I did have something fun happen though. Michelle and I went to “Oh, Hi, Oh” last weekend. It is such a friendly place. It says “Hi” right in its name! We went to a big show called a “specialty”. I think they call it that because it just has Boxers in it, and we are special. Anyway, I WON! I won Best in Specialty Show! Now I get to put BISS in front of my long name. I am BISS GCH CH Anscha-K Krew Number Nine In A Party Of Ten.  But it is still just the same old me, Nueve!  Michelle had on her sparkly dress that made her look like a sparkly leopard.  (It’s a big kitty. We don’t have them in Iowa.)

Nueve BISS

Being a team player is part of my job. Michelle and I worked together as a team in the show ring to get our big win. Being calm in when something bad happens is part of my job.  I did not panic when what would have been a simple 3 hour trip turned into six, just because the van’s tire got tired and laid down flat.  Being positive when plans have to change is just part of my job.  There will be other Westminsters when Michelle can drive me. Yep, there are so many parts to my job.  I am a working dog.  I am BISS Good Boy Nueve!

Ann, when I thought about one word to describe your card, it was LOVELY! This is such a fresh, fun and just downright pretty card!

  2. Ann, the first thing I thought of when I saw your card was “blue bandanna”, which is a good thing, because it elicits comfort and hominess. I love your card and the little bit of sparkle to take things up a notch! Great card!
    Xoxo, Fran

Congratulations Nueve – way to go!! I’ve always wondered what all those letters stood for in your long name, so thanks for the explanation! You have had a very eventful week for sure! What a beautiful card Ann – the white daisies look fab against the blues; I think those papers look much nicer in use than they do in the catalogue. I am of course now going to have to get some!!

  4. Firstly, congrats Neuve!!! That is a fabulous achievement! Secondly, your Mom made another fabulous card and really showcased those gorgeous daisies. Leaving them white against the sea of blue was a great decision.
    Hugs

Oh Ann, I just love how all these white flowers pop off that gorgeous blue! The mix of patterns are so pretty and of course jewels make everything prettier. This is one gorgeous card.
I am so sorry your Mom had that flat tire! WOW! I know that was scary! So happy you had a friend rescue you! Congrats on the BIG WIN, too!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend, My Friend!

Oh, how much I love all the blues in your card, Ann! They are just beautiful and your white flowers stand out so well against them! AND so glad you got home safe and sound!!

  7. It’s always a pleasure to read your blog. I love your cards, but I especially love reading about your beautiful dogs. Nueve cracks me up. Congratulations on his BISS win. He is rather super. I really like this card too and I already have that suite so will try it out. God Bless you and yours and all your dogs.

  8. I love this card!! I have this set but no sooner did I get it ordered I had an accident at home and broke my femur. So stamp time is on hold for me. How scary for y’all with the tire and tow truck and needing a ride. How nice a former student was able to help!! Congratulations on the BISS win Nueve!!! Westminster…congratulations!! I’m sorry you can’t go this year… Maybe next year?

  9. LOVE the blues in this card Ann!
nueve is such a good boy!
    congratulations!

  10. Nueve, you are a good dog! Congratulations on your awards and new title!

  11. I can only imagine how frustrating and upsetting that was to be temporarily stranded due to a flat tire! What an honor for Nueve to have been accepted for the Westminster Show! I’ll bet Nueve would stand a great chance of winning there too! Hopefully in the future.

Oh, and Ann, that’s a wonderful card! I have the paper but didn’t order the daisies at the same time. They are on the way to me now. Can’t wait to play with them.

  12. Love Nueve’s comments, especially about his Dad!

  13. Outstanding card. I love daisies as they are so delicate.
Your DSP reminds me of folk art wall paper.
Congratulations Nueve on your win but sorry to hear abut the stressful day that you all had. Better days ahead.

  14. Bonnielee McGuire

Oh Ann, that is so pretty. The bottom part with the little birds reminds me of the Pennsylvania Dutch art. And, if Nueve doesn’t write a book soon it will be a real shame – so funny!! Also, I can’t imagine giving up a chance for Westminster!! How amazing. Thanks for sharing!

    • Nueve, Congratulations on your big win! I’ve never known a BISS before and yes, you are special because you are a Boxer. Im sorry you were scared after the flat tire but you handled it like a big boy, good job. I hope to hear from you soon. Tell your mom her card is beautiful!
