Clean and simple floral get well card

This week, sweet Claire is hosting our clean and simple challenge, which has a “Get Well” theme.  While I opted for a floral design, there are so many fun ideas for get well cards.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create.

But before you run off to gather your stamps, papers, and inks, remember that when The Paper Players use the term “clean and simple”, we mean cards that:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The large die in the Two-Tone Flora collection is perfect to use for embossing.  Using a die for embossing is one of those techniques that I tend to forget. It’s also a technique that I have to play around with a little to get just the right tension. But in a nutshell, it involves use the following sandwich:  platform, clear plate, silicone craft sheet, cardstock, detailed die with cutting edge face down, a piece of paper, clear plate.  Depending on your machine, you may need to use additional shims. When you run this sandwich through your die cutting machine, the die will press into the cardstock, but the silicone pad should not allow it to cut through the paper.  Although I usually have to experiment a little, the result is worth the effort.

Nueve’s Notes

Hey, Everyone!  It’s me, Nueve!  Today I want to talk to you about stamping.  My Mom loves stamping with me.  She never has to stamp alone as long as I am around.  Of course, she never has to do anything alone with me around.  I make sure of that.  Sure, I may slobber on her paper a little, and leave wrinkly spots,

but she always has cute little cloths to catch my drips.

I am a BIG helper.  I help her pick out stamp sets.  She lets me sniff them. I usually pick out flowery ones. I like flowers.

I even help her pick out bows. I think the white one is a better choice than the Tahitian Tide one.  Don’t you?  Use the white one, Momma!

Sometimes I work so hard making cards I get tired.  When that happens, I make Mom take a break and snuggle with me.   We crawl up in the old, comfy chair.  It is one of the few chairs that she lets me get on.  It has had lots of wiggle butts on it.  Great Aunt Muffy, Great Uncle Brody, Cousin Lexi, and Uncle Jackie have all sat in it back when they helped Mom stamp, before they became angels. She was going to get rid of it, but she couldn’t. She said it had too many memories, and it is plaid. She always talks about how she LOVES plaid. She loves me, too, but I’m not plaid. I’m fawn.

Sometimes I come right over and lay my head on the card until Mom stops and takes me for a walk or plays with me. I know that all work and no play makes Mom a dull mom, and I don’t want that to happen.

Making Mom smile and play is just part of my job.  I am a working dog.  I am Good Boy Nueve!

  1. I love the embossed die background Ann – this elevates this clean and simple get well card to something really special. Good to see your helper has a keen creative eye too!

  2. Ann your card is so pretty I love the embossed background. It allows the colors to pop. And isn’t that font on the sentiment the best!?

  3. Another inspirational card! Nueve is a wonderful motivator, isn’t he? I’m going to go to my craft room now and try to CASE your “simple” card. I loved your photos of the two of you creating in your craft room…what sweet memories to make!

  4. Gorgeous card! That background embossing is very sweet, but I am sure my stampers’ eyes would glaze over when I told them the “sandwich” to get that impression, LOL! But it really does add a nice touch.
It’s hard to envision how big Nueve is until he is sitting on your lap! WOWZA!

  5. Me: “Hmm, do I really need to order the Two-Tone Flora Bundle?”
    Ann: “Hey, check this out!”
    Me: *adds to order*

This is soooo pretty Ann! Love the simple layout. The embossed background and colors really pop. Just gorgeous!

  6. Ann, this is so lovely! The embossed background and the pretty flower and leaves are sure to bring smile to the recipient! I love this sentiment, too! You made my challenge shine this week! Have a super week and I hope you are feeling much better! Hugs!
Your pictures make my heart happy! You have the best helper!

  7. Wonderful card. Oh boy, such a helper. Teddy doesn’t share in my cardmaking though he prefers when I sit on the couch and make them with him near by. Occasionally a flying drool will get on the paper or card but for the most part he doesn’t care. Now making treat holders for dog biscuits or cat treats is a whole different story!

  8. I love this card and am going to try embossing with that die! And I am sure I love Nueve also! Such a sweetie.

  9. Oh Nueve!! I enjoy so much your reports. Take care of your Mom and Dad.

  10. Your card is beautiful! Clean and simple but the extra details really step it up. So happy to see Nueve loves stamping too! How big is he? It looks like you have more than a lapful in that picture!

  11. Love the card, your version of CAS : ) I see you found your pearls. And I love Nueve. Please tell him he is mag-niffy-scent!
