Peony Sympathy Card for PP532

Sympathy cards are difficult for me to make.  Because of this, I like to have one or two on hand for when they are needed.  Today’s challenge presented me with the opportunity to design this peony sympathy card.  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

It’s color challenge week at The Paper Players, and the lovely Joanne has a beautiful trio of colors for us.  While I envisioned flowers when I saw these hues,  I can’t wait to see what you create with them!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Today’s card is on the clean and simple side.  Blending Brushes were used to create a Seaside Spray background for the peony. Because I felt a little texture was needed, I embossed the panel using the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder. By mistake, the colored side ended up being the debossed side.  It provided subtle texture that I liked better than the embossed side.  A simple “cheater bow”, which mails nicely, along with clear Elegant Faceted Gems, are the perfect accents.

  1. Ann, this is lovely! I especially love the soft shading behind the flower, too. Sympathy cards are always hard to create but I absolutely love how this came out. This will certainly provide comfort to the recipient during a difficult time. Hugs!

  2. Ann, this card is gorgeous! I need to work ahead on some so that I have them on hand. This will bring comfort to the recipient! I love this beautiful peony! One of my favorite flowers. My Mom used to grown them. They don’t do well in GA. Have a lovely weekend, My Friend!

  3. Colors are so delicate looking and go together so well on this sweet sympathy card. It’s so difficult to try and make sympathy cards that will leave a nice impression on those who receive them so this one will certainly bring a bit of comfort to those who mourn.

  4. Thank you so much, Joanne! These were fabulous colors with which to work!

  5. Oh Ann, your card is stunning! The blending and coloring are gorgeous.

  6. Ann, shaded soft simplicity and it is stunning all the way. What a beautiful sympathy card. Beautiful!

  7. Ann, What a gorgeous Sympathy card! You really made the colors shine this week! One of the prettiest sympathy cards I have seen!!

  8. I do the same thing with sympathy cards; so much better to have one already to go than having to sit and create. I love the details of the sponged colors and the little gems! Have a great week!

  9. So pretty! I love the soft background and beautiful peonies!

  10. Lovely sympathy card, Ann, and I like how the embossing/sponging came out! A happy mistake! The recipient will certainly appreciate this beauty!

  11. This is a lovely sympathy card to have on standby Ann – I agree they are always so difficult to make when needed. I love the subtle sponged background and the debossed detail – it works really well. Your single peony stem, along with the clear gems, really make your card shine. Beautiful!
