Picture Perfect for Pals Paper Arts and Kia Kuteness

It’s time for another sketch from Pals Paper Arts!  This week, team member Amy Lazzell provided us with this lovely sketch.  I LOVE square cards.  Since sketches that feature focal circles like this make me reach for flowers, I pulled out the Picture Perfect stamp set and inked it up for the first time.  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

This finished card measure 5-1/4″ square when folded.

Triple Step Stamping is a breeze with photopolymer stamps.  For these gorgeous flowers, I used Cherry Cobbler ink.  For the more detailed image (designated #3 in the set) , I used Cherry Cobbler full strength.  Image #2 was stamped off once, while image #1 was stamped off twice.  I actually stamped them in that order…darkest to lightest.  Of course, you know me and pearls. I could not resist adding a few to the middle of each flower.  The leaves were stamped in Old Olive, following the same stamping off protocol.

The Bird was stamped in Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler.  A pearl graces his eye. To make it appear as if he is hovering above the flowers, he is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Originally I was not going to add a sentiment to this card, but as I was creating it, and as it took on “it’s life”, I thought this would be the perfect card to give to Jackie’s handler, Amy.  Over the years, through her handling of Muffy, Lexi and the Mini-Muffins, Amy has become a trusted friend.  She loves my babies as if they were her own.  Upon many occasions, I have placed their lives in her capable hands.  At sometime over the years, she has become more than just a professional acquaintance.  She has become a daughter, a sister, a niece as well as a trusted friend.  Truly our hearts decide who is family…

Little “KiKi”  has been away from the show scene while we are waiting for her to mature.  But that doesn’t mean she has not been honing her show dog skills.  What better way to learn how the big dogs do it than by watching the Westminster Dog Show.  I snapped a few picture of her with my phone Tuesday night while I was in the basement working.  (Please excuse the mess…I have tons of things boxed up to send because of my retired stamp sale.)

First, she starts out standing right in front of the TV.  She was watching the Sporting Group.

Of course, a little girl gets tired standing for so long.  So she reverted to sitting and watching.

IMG_5727And finally she ends up lying down, but still glued to the show.

IMG_5728Of course, once in awhile, one just has to get a closer look.  The Neapolitan Mastiff required closer examination. Just look at her head tilt, as she tries to figure out what the heck kind of dog this is.

IMG_5730IMG_5731She is really watching his down and back.  How does he look, Kia?

Jackie, on the other hand, was content to rest his head on Uncle Brody, and dream about being at Westminster some day…

Jackie and I are on the road this weekend, heading to Des Moines.  Our goal is to have fun, although Jackie LOVES shopping for new toys.  And this scamp usually charms the vendors into freebies.  What a scam artist! But who can resist this face:

  1. Love it when dogs – or cats – watch TV! I had a cat once who loved hockey – could be because my ex was a hockey fan and he had to watch every game he could. So, the cat and I didn’t have much choice.
Also love your card. I really like that stamp set and have also found that I get better results by stamping dark to light.

  2. Kia has gotten so big!!! She’s becomes such a beautiful dog!! This card has really sold me on the rose photopolymer set. You did a beautiful job with it. Hugs to the family!

  3. As usual, your card is gorgeous! So much detail.

  5. Great job with the hummingbird! That one took me a bit to perfect the line up. I love the expressions your dogs can get – they look like people…

  10. Forgot to say… next week I’m off to visit Nancy & Nance in Florida! Can’t wait! hugs

  11. Ann this is gorgeous! Love your colors and layout and the combo of the DSP patterns is fantastic. I also love square cards, but they are so much more to mail, and I send TONS of cards, so I have to save those for “hand out” special deliveries.
    hugs.

  12. Ann: A STUNNING card! Love the card and all of your layers, details, colors……
Loved the pictures of Kia watching the dog show, so funny!

  13. Gorgeous colors. I’ll have to try stamping in reverse – I’ve been doing it light to dark. Your roses are stunning.

Adorable puppy photos. And, yes, who could resist Jack’s sweet face?!?!?

  14. Your card is beautiful, of course! Love it! Isn’t it fun how KiKi was so in to the dog show!

  17. Everyone enjoys your stories re: dogs. So glad to see your talent back up on the screen. As always this card is terrific!

  18. Gorgeous card and the sentiment is fantastic for her! Love the photos of Kia watching the show! Teddy likes Cupcake Wars or whatever it is on the Food Channel – but it only holds his attention for about 15 minutes. Must have something to do with the sugar rush! I remember when Muffy or Brody found the humming bird in your backyard – your beautiful card reminded me of that time.

Do you know what time Jack is showing? What building is it in? This weekend will be warm and muddy!

  19. Oh, so pretty, as usual! I love the black and white DSP pieces, not too much and it really lets those stamps shine!

  20. Beautiful card Ann! The details are amazing as are the updates on the kids!

  21. Awwwwwe, MsAnn , she’s soo cute , these baby’s are so amazing and smart, I love them, I love to play with my grand dodgy when I go vist my daughter, he live here for 2yrs and when her house was built she took him, and I sure missed them , and that made me sad for a while , but we face time often , and he knows it’s me , his ears stand up and tail wags , lol,

Now to your beautiful car as always , I love that flower , love the color and how it pops , beautiful job !!!!
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your baby’s MsAnn,
    Hugs Frenchie

  22. It makes my day seeing these fur babies. How funny is Miss Kia watching the dog show? Thanks for sharing your Boxer brood, I just love these fur babies of yours.

  23. Although I have kept up with the doggie travels via FB, I just ran through the latest posts for additional details. I love your new format (can you tell it has been awhile since I actually came to your blog. I am pulling my favorites out of Bloglovin and will again ask for email updates!!). Now I understand about Muffy’s surgery and aren’t you the best Mom still keeping her company on the floor! I love how you incorporate your doggie children into your posts… they are the heart and soul of you!

The card is STUNNING! i love the gray color of the hummer’s body…really shows off the details. The Cherry Cobbler is perfect for the roses. You might think this card is too feminine for CASE’ing for a man, but my father would adore this card. I will just leave off the pearls, LOL… Love it, Ann!!

  24. You absolutely nailed the beauty of this 3 step stamp set! Darling pix of attentive puppy watching “the show of doggie shows!”

  25. Holy cow, woman! What an amazing card. Those flowers look so 3-D with the pearls in the center and that striped paper just seems to add a little, what?, sophistication? to the whole card. Wonderful – almost as wonderful as the pups.

  26. Such a beautiful card and that little hummer is outstanding.
Cute and adorable pictures of ‘KiKi’. Thanks for sharing
Have a fun and enjoyable day and be safe on them Iowa roads
