Awesomely Artistic for Pals Paper Arts

IMG_2579It’s Thursday…and we all know it’s time to play at Pals Paper Arts.  This week is a sketch challenge.  It afforded me the opportunity to play with two new stamp sets, Awesomely Artistic and Watercolor Wash, along with a favorite of mine, Butterfly Basics. Enjoy!

This finished card measures 5-1/4″ square.

  • Faux watercoloring! The flowers from Awesomely Artistic were inked with Jet Black StazOn and faux watercolored using Blender Pens and the following inks: Soft Sky, Always Artichoke, Hello Honey.  Pearls were added to the center of selected blossoms.

  • The Midas touch! The Dragonfly image was heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder for a touch of elegance.

  • The power of three! The Friend image is from Awesomely Artistic, while the Soft Sky background is courtesy of the Watercolor Wash stamp. The Always Artichoke fern is from Butterfly Basics.  Although three different stamp sets were used, they coordinate beautifully!

IMG_2579-004My days have been filled with taking care of Jack and Kia.  It’s a critical time for them in terms of their ears and socialization.  But as you can see, it has been time well spent.  Little Kia is turning out to be a beautiful girl…

Kia 7-22-15while Jack is an ornery big boy…

IMG_3563He will grow into those ears.  Here is Lexi with her big ears as a puppy…

IMG_3510And Lexi now…

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I had fun combining the three sets, but I will admit it took me four tries to get the background right.  I was adding way too many images, and it was detracting from the focal points.  But once I scaled back and added the Watercolor Wash image, things fell into place.  Won’t you leave me a comment to let me know what you think about today’s card?  Your comments are important to me.  Of course, if you have any questions about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

  3. Chris R. from Iowa

Gorgeous! I love everything about this card!

Love the kids and their big ears. Such gorgeous markings on Jack and he looks about as ornery as my Teddy! Kia is so pretty. I had forgotten about the Lexi photo with her ears! My how time flies!

  4. Absolutely lovely, gorgeous Ann, vintage and elegant!!
And those puppies, oh my goodness, they’ve grown indeed.
Thank you for sharing the pictures, the ears look a bit big for their little faces but, like you said, they will grow into them.

  5. This is one of my all time favorite cards ever! I like everything about it.

  6. STUNNING! Great job!

  7. Another exquisite card! I can’t believe how big the puppies are already!

  8. Your card is beautiful. I’ve been wanting to make something similar….waiting on awesomely artistic. I like the gold embossing on the dragonfly and pearls on the flowers. I don’t think the card needs the bow, but that is just me. You’ve inspired me to make my next card square! Blessings…

  9. Positively stunning! Ann as usual you have such a beautiful eye for what works together. Hope you are having fun at convention.

  10. You did a good job putting the different elements to gather. Love it. Also fun to see how the puppies are growing. What fun.

  11. Another awesome card as usual. Thanks for sharing puppy pics as well. We lost our little one of 15 years this week. I know with all that energy, things are hopping at your house.

  12. Absolutely beautiful Ann! You know that stamp set my favorite SU demonstrator sent me a few weeks ago?? 🙂 Well, this has inspired me so much that I will be whipping it out today!

  13. Isnt the background from the set, “You’ve Got This”?
