It’s Buried Treasure time…a time where I revisit, for one reason or another, a card from my archives. Today’s card first appeared on The Stampin’ Schach back on June 19, 2009 with THIS post. What drew me back to this card? The layout. I was looking for a layout to use with a certain stamp set, and I thought this one would be a natural. Check back Tuesday to see my updated version. I am so excited for you to see it!
Layout Options: This layout is perfect for cards where you wish to showcase horizontal images. This is also a perfect layout for showcasing coordinating patterns of Designer Series Paper. From the Holiday Mini, Festive and Fun is a perfect stamp set choice. From the Idea Book and Catalog, Holiday Lineup and Scaredy Cat would work well. In addition, think of leaves and pumpkins for fall, and butterflies and flowers for spring! And with a little tweaking, you can flip this layout for vertical images such as giraffes, lighthouses and trees, too!
Embellishment Updates: Pearls? Baker’s Twine? Big Designer Buttons? Border Punches? Depending on the style of your card, Vintage Trinkets, Antique Brads and lace are also great choices for creating a vintage look.
Techniques: Curl the corners of the central image and distress the edges, too! Pull out the Color Spritzer Tool! How beautiful would it be to use the Inlaid Embossing technique on the back panel or one of Stampin’ Up!’s new Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, like Houndstooth! Just let your imagination soar!
Please join me on Tuesday to see what updates I used!
I hope you enjoyed this card from my past…even though my cardmaking past only goes back to 2009! And I hope that you take the time to examine your card making past to see what Buried Treasure you may have waiting for you. As always, your comments are important to me so let me know what you think about today’s layout…or just say “Hi!” And if you ever have any questions about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. Just give me a holler…or email if it’s easier! Until next time…
(Note to lulyg: Please email me about the retired stamp set. I don’t have your email address so I can’t contact you. Ann)
Love this buried treasure! I have never made a long card like this but I love it and so agree it is great for showcasing horizontal stamps! You’ve now given me an idea for using a border set that has not seen ink in a long time!
Very cute buried treasure!!!…..I love making cards this size….great size to use those smaller images! {SMILES}
Hi, Chris! That is why I said you need to tune in Tuesday…to see the changes I made on this card 🙂 I will be featuring the updated version! Woo hoo! Pearls??? Maybe!
Another fun card I had forgotten about. Maybe you need to SHOW us some changes you would like to make on this rather than suggestions. First of all, is there any pearls on there?

I love this buried treasure, Ann! What a great layout! XOXO
Buried Treasure day is one of my favorite days at The Stampin’ Schach! I love the ideas you share to take one card and create something TOTALLY new and fun with different elements. It really gets my creative mind workin’! Thanks for the fantastic inspiration, yet again, Ann! *hugs* 🙂
