Clean and Simple Houses

Clean and simple houses are on the agenda for today, in an homage to one of my favorite retired stamp sets, Holiday Home. It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

clean and simple houses

It’s clean and simple week at The Paper Players, and the incredibly talented Laurie has a great theme for us:  House!

Because I did not have a single current house stamp in my “collection”,  I opted to go retro, and use one of my favorite retired bundles, Holiday Home.  This is one of those sets which I will never sell.  It is perfect for creating a clean and simple card.  I can’t wait to see what YOU create.   But,  remember, by clean and simple The Paper Players mean cards that:

  • Have minimal layers and embellishments
  • Have plenty of open space
  • Are simple and uncluttered

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

Today’s card maintains its clean and simple status with an abundance of white space.  The Splatters embossing folder adds texture and interest without adding the “clutter” of some of the fussier designer paper patterns.  A single rhinestone serves as the only bling.   Many of you will not have this stamp set, but the value of today’s post is in its clean and simple layout.  The next time you need a clean and simple card, consider this design.  The Stitched Rectangle layers are  quick and easy to create.   An embossing folder adds texture and interest, and there are so many fabulous ones from which to choose.  Top off your card with simple images of your choice, and you are ready to brighten up someone’s mailbox.

Yellow Flowers For A Birthday

Yellow flowers for a birthday!  This card will be winging its way to one of my friends who is celebrating their special day in May.  It’s time to play at Festive Friday – Home of the Inspo List!

yellow flowers for a birthday
For this week’s challenge, we are inspired by World Bee Day. Remember, at Festive Friday you do not need to actually celebrate or make a card for the occasion featured. Your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. I used flowers, bees, yellow and black to create my card. I can’t wait to see what YOU create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I LOVE polka dotted paper.  Thanks to Stampin’ Up!’s new Dots & Spots die, I can create polka dotted paper in any color combination I want.  It was a breeze to create this Daffodil Delight and Basic Black panel for today’s card.  A few flowers, from the Hues of Happiness designer series paper, were die cut out using the Blossoming Happiness dies.  The sentiment, from Flowing Flowers, was die cut out using a Stitched Rectangle die, and matted on top of a die cut banner made with a Stylish Shapes die.  Easy peasy!

Notes from Nueve

Hi, everyone!  Guess what I did this week.  I took Mom and Dad on a walk in a park.  It had lots of trees, flowers and bees.  I think they had a great time smelling all the smells and seeing all of the peoples.  I tried catching bees in my mouf.  Mom screamed when I almost caught one. I guess you aren’t supposed to do that.

yellow flowers for a birthday

We sat beside a little lake that had turdles.  I don’t know what a turdle is, but there were boys by the lake and they kept yelling, “There’s a turdle!”  I got excited ’cause I wanted to see the turdles, too. But, I think their yelling scared the turdles away, ’cause when I went to look, I didn’t see anything that I thought looked like it would be called a turdle.  I saw some sticks, some rocks, and water.

yellow flowers for a birthday

There was a little island in the middle of the lake. It had pretty flowers.  Mom wanted to go over there and take a picture of me with the flowers. But, there weren’t any walk-over-the-water-boards.  I wanted to get in the water to go over there, but Mom wouldn’t let me.  She can’t swim like me.  She might have dwowned, and that would have been bad.

yellow flowers for a birthday

Instead we sat by a big gun and Dad took our picture.  If you look really closely, you can see the Missy Pippy Ribber.  It’s a really big ribber.

After we left the park, I took Mom to the pet store to buy her a Mother’s Day Gift.  I picked it all out by myself.  It squeaks, and feels bumpy in my mouf.   Isn’t it cute? I think she likes it a lot, even though she doesn’t put it in her mouf like she’s ‘posed to! I know I love it!

yellow flowers for a birthdayIt was hard work walking my Mom and Dad at the park. They kept wanting to sit.  But, I can handle the job.  I’m a working dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!

Floral Friendship Card in Freesia and Navy

Would you like to brighten up someone’s day?  Just drop this floral friendship card, in shades of freesia and navy, in the mail.  It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players!

floral friendship card in freesia and navy
This week,  sweet and talented Joanne has a beautiful trio of colors for us.  Aren’t they stunning together?  I opted to create a slimline friendship card.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

I just love it when a card makes itself, and that is exactly what this card did. It showcases one of my favorite designer papers, Hues of Happiness.  This paper features these gorgeous flowers, many which coordinate with the Blossoming Happiness dies.  The “trellis” die, which is also part of the Happiness Abounds bundle,  is perfect for adding texture and interest, too. While this card looks like a tough one to tackle, the paper and the dies do the work for you. It does take a little time to create, but I think the “WOW” is worth it.

Notes from Nueve

Hey, everyone!  I’m so excited. I traveled a long way in the van and stayed in a motel and went to a state fairground and showed in a dog show and had so much fun!  My mom took lots of pictures.

Nueve in Springfield

My mom packed a bag for me.  I helped her pack it.  I brought my favorite red ball.  It’s got places to put yummies.  I don’t wear necklaces at home, but Mom made sure I had a necklace on, just in case someone accidentally let me out of the room. This necklace belonged to Uncle Jackie.  It has sock monkeys on it.  My mom made sure to cover the bed with a sheet from home, just in case I was ‘lergic to the soap the motel uses to wash their blankies.  I thought the bed was really comfy.  I fell asleep watching cartoons.

Nueve in Springfield

The next day we went to a special place called a fairground.  This was the Ill of Noise State Fairground.  I know my dad sometimes gets ill of noise, especially when Sixx barks.  I don’t bark, ’cause I’m a good boy.  This place was HUGE and had lots of buildings.  My mom and dad took me on walks all over the place. I saw this big cow.  It’s not real though.  But,  I think I smelled real cows in some of the buildings.

Nueve in SpringfieldMy good friend, Michelle, was there.   My Mom handed her my “take-me-with-you-rope”, and we went inside the biggest building I have ever seen.  There were hundreds of other dogs there.  I was so scared, and shaking, but Michelle loved on me, and made me feel better.

I found out that Michelle had showed Great Aunt Muffy in dog shows, and she was going to show ME!  I was a little scared, but you know what? I thought about all of my family who had showed before me. This is where Uncle Jackie and Aunt Kia had their first show.  This was where Great Aunt Muffy had one of the biggest wins of her ‘reer.  I am a working dog, and I realized I had a job to do!  And you know what? I WON!!! I did it! I WON!!!  My Mom was so happy she cried.  She wanted to take lots more pictures.  She was so proud of me, and that made me proud of myself.

Nueve in SpringfieldMichelle gave me a kiss on the head, and told me I was a good boy!

Nueve in Springfield

On the way home, we stopped at McDonald’s and I got a cheeseburger.  When we got home, Mom put my pretty ribbons on the fridgerdater so I could see them every day.

Nueve in Springfield

Being a show dog is hard work.  But, hard work is what I do.  I am a working dog.  I am Good Boy Nueve!
