Beside Me Masculine Card

When he was young, my son Brady had a tough time learning how to ride a bicycle. Maybe it was in his genes. I never learned to ride a bike. I grew up on the farm riding ponies and horses. Therefore, it fell upon his dad, a city boy, to teach him the ins and outs of balancing on two wheels. The now retired Beside Me stamp set was purchased just for this image … a reminder of how father and son persevered so many years ago. I hope you enjoy this “Beside Me” masculine card. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.

This week it the turn of the amazing LeAnne to host our monthly Clean and Simple challenge. The theme she has selected for us: Things with Wheels. I know you will have so much fun with this challenge. Be it masculine or feminine, juvenile or adult, just remember it is Clean and Simple week. Make sure your creations meet the following criteria:

Have minimal layers and embellishments
Have plenty of open space
Are simple and uncluttered

We can’t wait to see what YOU create. But before you head off to gather up your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my “Teamies” some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

Beside Me colors

Some images are made for coloring with Blender Pens and inks, and in my book, this is one of them. To create this “Beside Me” masculine card, I first stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon. Next, I used the following inks to color the images: Shirts – Real Red, Crushed Curry; Jeans, Short, Helmet, Handle Grips – Misty Moonlight; Hair – Pecan Pie; Shoes, Ground – Crumb Cake; Bike – Smoky Slate; Reflector – Real Red with Wink of Stella. After the image was colored, the Textured Notes rectangle die was used to cut it out. Dimensionals were used to “pop” it up on the card base, which had been embossed with the Plaster Painting 3D embossing folder. The sentiment, from the same set as the image, was stamped using Secret Sea ink. Because this was a clean and simple challenge, I kept the embellishments to a minimum, choosing to use three Opal Rounds.

Friends Are Flowers

“Friends are flowers in the garden of life” is one of my favorite sentiments. It’s no wonder it has the place of honor on today’s card. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.

Friends are flowers

Today I have the pleasure of hosting our monthly Color Challenge. For your stamping fun I have selected: Pretty Peacock, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly. I hope you have as much fun with this challenge as our talented Design Team did. We can’t wait to see what YOU create. But before you head off to gather up your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my “Teamies” some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

colors for Friends are flowers color challenge

With “Friends are flowers” as a sentiment, how could I not feature flowers on my card? These lovely blooms, from the Gallery Blooms stamp set, were the perfect size. Lemon Lolly centers, Fresh Freesia petals and Pretty Peacock leaves work well together. I wanted to create the illusion of a trellis against a brick wall. The Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder, a gift from one of my stamping friends, was exactly what I needed to create the backdrop for the trellis, which was die cut using the retired Linked Together die. Three Two-Tone Sparkle Gems added just the right amount of bling. My “Friends Are Flowers” card was such a fun one to make. I can’t wait to recreate it in a variety of colors.

Hey, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! Mom said I had lots of people asking how I have been, so I needed to tell everybody my shots are helping. Doc Rita plays with me after I get them, and she gives me lots of treats. To show her how thankful I am, I give her lots of kisses. She doesn’t even wipe them off. Because I am getting better, Doc Rita said I could be out in the yard with Sixxy and Uncle Q, as long as we didn’t wrestle. So far, Sixxy has been good and hasn’t tried to get me in trouble. I am always good.

Because I can’t run while Sixxy and Uncle Q play ball, Mom gives me a chew to occupy my time. She also gives me homemade doggy “ice cream” when we get home from getting my shots. I have to share, though. She’s the best MOM ever! She gets lots of kisses, too.

Yep! Giving kisses is one of the things I do best. It’s part of my job. Even though I got hurt, I am still a Working Dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!

Sending Good Vibes

I have a very good Canadian friend who is experiencing some heart-wrenching challenges in her life. Her daughter Elizabeth, who just graduated from 5th grade, underwent very serious heart surgery five weeks ago. Elizabeth is a warrior and is doing well. However, the stress is starting to take its toll on my friend. She called me Friday evening, needing a sympathetic ear. I was very happy to lend her mine. As we were saying our good-byes, I ended our conversation as I always do, telling her I was sending good vibes her way. As luck, or maybe it was the universe, would have it, I had created this “Sending Good Vibes” card for PP745. I am sending good vibes to you in today’s “post”, and good vibes to my friend via the “Post” Office. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

The amazing Stef is our hostess for this week’s theme challenge, and boy does she have a fun one for us: Round We Go! Your mission is to feature circles on your card. I hope you have as much fun with this challenge as our talented Design Team did. We can’t wait to see what YOU create. But before you head off to gather up your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my “Teamies” some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

When Stef challenged us to feature circles on our card, I made sure I did! I started by bringing a retired work horse out of the embossing folder stable: the Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It served as my backdrop for a collection of circles, which were punched from Boho Vibes designer series paper. The sentiment comes from the Sunshine Vibes stamp set. I inked it up with Versamark ink, stamped it onto Cajun Craze cardstock, and heat embossed it. I then die cut it out using a Spotlight On Nature die. Accenting the Cajun Craze sentiment circle with a Cloud Cover bow gives a fun Mid-Century vibe. Three Flower Accents were the finishing touch.
