Be prepared for a contrast in styles as I present two cards today! One is cute…one is classy, and both are easy! Enjoy!
Valentine in Blue

The Greeting Card Kids stamp set is so versatile! Bedecked in Baja Breeze, with a Basic Pearl oval frame, our little Valentine girl is ready to steal your heart! The simple, yet lovely, layout was inspired by a card I received from the talented LeAnne Pugliese, one of my design team friends from The Paper Players. This card also features Springtime Vintage paper and the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder…both from the Occasions Mini.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Hand tinted! Give Designer Series Paper the subtle look of hand-tinting simply by using a Blender Pen and ink. In this case, a selection from Springtime Vintage was tinted with Pretty in Pink to coordinate with our little sweetie’s heart!
  • Frame it! The oval image mat, which was created with the Big Shot and the Ovals Originals Die, was adorned with Basic Pearls strips. How easy…how elegant!
  • Vintage lace! Old World charm is as easy as adding a snippet of Chantilly Crochet Trim to the Baja Breeze Seam Binding!
Hugs and Kisses

This card oozes sophistication, with its rich colors and classy design. The modern XOXO set from the Occasions Mini is combined with the always beautiful Always set.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Emboss for effect! The Heart from the Always set was inked in VersaMark and stamped onto Cherry Cobbler card stock. Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder was applied and heat embossed.
  • Layers! XOXO was inked in Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Very Vanilla. Mats of Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black allows the image to pop right off the card!
  • Layer your labels! Once again, the sentiment is accented by layering the Curly Label punch onto Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black labels which were cut horizontally and adhered to the original.
  • Glitz and Glam! A Basic Black Satin Bow adds a touch of elegance. Three Basic Pearls accent the heart!
I hope you enjoyed the contrast in styles! My husband selected the “Blue Girl” as his favorite, while Brady picked the “Red Heart”. I would love to know which of the two you liked the best. So please, settle the controversy in the Schach house…leave me a comment as to which one is your favorite! And remember, if you have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!

Hop along for more inspiring ideas from Sue Bendinsky, stop number 15 on the January PALS HOP! Thanks for “hopping” by! Until next time…

Thank You with Faux Burning

Today I would like to share a card for you that was designed when I was a member of the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Design Team. It is a quick card to create, featuring the faux burning technique.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Faux burning is so easy! Simply tear your paper, ripping towards you. Then apply a heavy coating of Early Espresso ink using a Sponge Dauber. To review my video tutorial of this technique, Click Here.
  • Stamp-a-ma-jig! The beautiful Elizabeth stamp was inked in Early Espresso and stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock. The Stamp-a-ma-jig was then used to perfectly align the “Thanks so much” sentiment from Three Little Words. If you are new to stamping and need to review how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, just Click Here.
  • Distress it! Early Espresso ink and a Sponge Dauber are used to distress the edges of the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. An Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and a Color Spritzer Tool add instant speckles.
  • Glitz and Glam! Basic Pearls add an elegant accent to the header of the card and accentuate the centers of the Punch Potpourri flowers.

Get ready to hop along with the Pals on Tuesday as we embark on our Valentine Blog Hop! This month, 15 talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators will be featuring Valentine themed projects for your inspiration! So stop by The Stampin’ Schach and start hopping!

As always, your comments are important to me, so please let me know what you think of today’s card. And as always, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

A Valentine for The Paper Players

After time off for the holidays, The Paper Players are back with their weekly challenges. For Challenge 29, it’s Valentines! I hope that you enjoy my inspiration card, featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Be My Valentine stamp.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Cherry delight! “Be My Valentine” was inked with Cherry Cobbler and stamped onto Naturals Ivory card stock. It was inked a second time and stamped onto Shimmery White card stock. The Shimmery White flowers and banner were then snipped out and used to adorn the Naturals Ivory heart. In addition, Basic Pearls were added as accents, and the edges were distressed with Soft Suede ink.
  • Frame it! Distressed and fussy cut, this image from Notably Ornate is the perfect frame for the Be My Valentine heart!
  • Gilded Roses! Gilding the new Vintage Flower Adornments is easy! Simply coat the edges of the petals using a VersaMarker, and heat emboss with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder!
  • Burnished beauty! The Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder “pops” after embossing with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Just brayer on VersaMark, sprinkle with embossing powder, and heat!
The result is an old-fashioned beauty, and the first of several Valentines I will be showcasing in the upcoming weeks! If vintage is not your cup of tea, just wait! I will be stepping out of my comfort zone to feature some “cute” Valentines, too!

A Muffy Emergency

What was going to be a fun, light-hearted post about The Twins and their adventures, has taken a different twist, in light of a puppy emergency Saturday evening. Poor, poor Muffy Lyn!

(Muffy Resting Comfortably after Her Pain Medication)

Muffy possibly fractured the growth plate in her left front leg. During our supper this evening, she and Brody were tusseling on the couch, when they both fell off. I saw it all happen, as if it were in slow motion. Muffy’s front leg was splayed out at an awkward angle and all 40 pounds of Brody landed on top of it. We immediately called the vet, (Dr. Remmers was on call), who met us at the office within 10 minutes. She took two x-rays, and cannot say yes or no as to whether the growth plate is fractured, so she is erring on the side of caution. There is soft tissue trauma and bruising. The good news is that there is no separation of the bone, if it is indeed fractured. The bad news is that if it does separate, they will have to do surgery to put the bone back in place and actually pin it in position. Dr. Remmers said that this is a horrible operation. The next few days are critical. Muffy is not to jump…try telling that to a five-month-old Boxer puppy. If the elbow swells more or if she starts to favor her leg more, we have instructions to call the vet immediately. Muffy’s leg does not have a splint on it, because the vet said that with a fracture of the growth plate, a splint can do more harm than good. On the bright side, Muffy’s behavior was excellent. She sat and stayed for the x-rays. Hurray for Obedience School! She is scheduled for her first show on February 19th.

As always, your comments are very important to me. I read them all, and if you have a blog, I do try to leave comments in return. Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. And if you find it in your hearts, could you please say wee doggy prayer for Muffy the Boxer? Until next time…
