Ribbon Winner and Other Things

First, I would like to give a quick “Thank You” to Jennifer Emmert of Paper Tramp Stamper for so sweetly awarding me the Stylish Blogger Award. Since I have already shared facts about myself, I won’t bore you with more. But, I did want to make certain that I acknowledged Jennifer for her kindness.

Ribbon Winner
If you remember correctly, on Saturday I asked a “Bite of Blog Candy” question about tutorials you would like to see. Here are a few of the results:
  • Using the Color Spritzer Tool
  • Making Flowers
  • Unique Card Folds
  • Watercoloring
  • Making Vintage Cards
  • Placing Pearl and Rhinestones
  • Any Techniques

I have also had requests for virtual classes and on-line card parties. (If you have any ideas for either of these, please email me.) All I can say is “I’ll see what I can do!” What I truly wish is that you all lived closer to me! We could gather around the dining room table and just stamp the day away! Of course, you would have to take time out to play with the Twins. They would love that, for sure!

In return for your comments, the “Bite of Blog Candy” I am giving away is Bravo Burgundy and Sage Shadow 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon. The winner, as selected by using a random number generator is:

Spring for The Paper Players

“Spring has Sprung” at The Paper Players, and your challenge this week is to create a “Spring” themed project. As for me, when I think of spring, one of the first things I think of is…flowers! Of course, what is Spring without some bling? I have made sure that my card has bling a-plenty in the form of pearls, rhinestones and glitter! Won’t you join us in our challenge this week?

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:

  • Pearls! The stem of these flowers, from the “For Everything” stamp set, just cried out for pearls. And who am I to say “no” to these flowers? So I obliged by using strips of Basic Pearls. Because they are adhered together, I just snipped off what I needed from the strip. It was so easy! Of course, I also added a few pearls to the petals and the butterfly, too!
  • Rhinestones! The little “butterfly trail” was created by simply adding Basic Rhinestones.
  • Glitter! Dazzling Diamonds were added to the sentiment and the butterfly. Baja Breeze Glass Glitter also adorns the butterfly’s wings. To add glitter to specific areas such as these, I use a small paintbrush to “paint” the area with Tombow Liquid Glue. Then I liberally sprinkle with glitter and shake of the excess.

I had good intentions of not sponging or distressing this card, but a small smudge made it necessary to spritz it using the Color Spritzer Tool and a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker. Of course, that in turn, necessitated sponging the edges with Crumb Cake ink. Still, it is a slightly different card from what I usually make. And you know what…sometimes it is fun to do something a little different…to get out of your comfort zone…even if for just one card!

As I have always said, your comments are important to me. I do read and respond to as many as I possibly can. For those of you who have blogs, it is always a pleasure for me to visit and see what you have been creating. And remember, if you have questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, don’t hesitate to email me! Until next time…
