Baja Butterfly for Pals Paper Arts

It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week we are featuring a beautiful sketch designed by our own Margaret Moody. Today’s card spotlights a trio of new products: the Butterfly from Strength & Hope, a frame from Four Frames, and the beautiful Paisley Petal Designer Series Paper. I hope you enjoy it!

The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:

  • Plead the Fifth…Fifth Avenue Floral, that is! Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze Craft Inks were used to stamp the image from Fifth Avenue Floral. It was then heat embossed using Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. As for the centers of the flowers, they were tinted with River Rock ink. Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds were then added for a splash of sparkle!
  • Bling the Butterfly! The Butterfly from Strength & Hope was accented with Dazzling Diamonds and a single Basic Pearl.
  • Scrunchy it up! Baja Breeze Seam Binding is easily “scrunched”! Simply pull a thread and gather! A few strategically placed Mini Glue Dots are all that are needed to hold it in place!
  • Dye it! Vintage Rosettes can be tinted any hue by one of two methods: coloring with a Stampin’ Write Marker OR by adding a few drops of re-inker to rubbing alcohol and spritzing it.
I hope you enjoyed looking at some of the products that Stampin’ Up! will be offering in the near future! Both Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper and Four Frames will be available for purchase in a promotion which begins April 1st. Strength & Hope will be available in the Summer Mini, which goes live May 1st!

Emboss Resist Video Tutorial

I would like to share a video tutorial with you today. I have had several requests to explain how I execute the Emboss Resist technique, such as seen on this card:
I usually use Crumb Cake ink for this technique. However, in order for you to see more clearly how the embossing “pops”, I used Soft Suede in the making of this video. Crumb Cake is what was used on the card above. For details on how the emboss resist featured card was made, please click on “Vintage Color Challenge”.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s sneak peek and video. Won’t you let me know if the video was helpful by leaving me a comment? And of course, if you ever have a question about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Firsts, Seconds and Reserve Winners…A Boxer Twin Update

The Twins’ second show is one for the books, and they have good news to report. Muffy is so excited, she can hardly wait to tell you all about it! Although I don’t have any cards to share with you today, I do have a video tutorial ready for my next post. Here’s Muffy and her latest Boxer Twin Update!

Muffy: Mom said I could tell you all about my perfect day on Saturday, because Brody was a loser and got an ugly old red ribbon and I got…
Brody: MOM…Muffy is starting it already!
Muffy: Well, it’s true Brody! You jumped up and down and wouldn’t run right and…
Mom: MUFFY LIN! If you can’t say something nice about your brother, then don’t say anything at all!
Muffy: Oh, alright! On Saturday, my wonderful brother Brody with the beautiful head did an OK job and got a red ribbon! I received a beautiful blue ribbon. Red is for losers…Blue is for winners!
Brody: MOM! Tell Muffy to quit calling me a loser!
Mom: Muffy Lin…If you want to continue telling this story you had better be kind!
Muffy: Okaaay! Well anyway, I ended up going back into the ring with all of the big girls who had won their classes. The judge picked one, and she was called the Winners Bit… Mom, can I say the “B” word? It is what all of the dog show people say!
Mom: Muffy, you can just call it the Winners “Female” if you want.
Muffy: OK, Mom! Then the judge pointed at me, and said I was the Reserve Winner!!! I got a very pretty purple and white ribbon AND I got my picture taken with the judge while I stood on a special standing place called a podium!
Brody: I want my picture taken with a judd! Why can’t I have my picture taken with the judd? I want my picture taken on a podi…a podi…a special standing place!
Muffy: Pictures are for winners, Brody! And I told you last show, they aren’t called “judds” they are “judges”.
Brody: But Muffy, I got a blue ribbon Sunday. I ran like I was supposed to, and I stood really still, and I didn’t jump on the judd. Mom, will I ever get my picture taken with a judd?
Mom: Brody, I know that one day you WILL have your picture taken with a judd, er…I mean judge. And by the way, Miss Muffy Smarty Pants…what color was your ribbon on Sunday?
Muffy: It was…red. But I wanted red. It looks so pretty with my coloring. And my leash is red. I thought I would share the blue with my other puppy friend. Aren’t you always saying we should share, Mom? I was just doing what you told me to do!
Mom: Oh, Muffy…

An exhausted Brody reposes in his favorite chair. Although he is getting too big for it, he still loves to lay in it.
Little Muffy snuggles down into her cozy bed and dreams of winning!
And for those of you who may have lost track in Muffy’s narrative, over the weekend, Brody received a second and a first in his class. Muffy won first in her class and went Reserve Winners on Saturday, while receiving a second on Sunday. Of course, I will make certain to share Muffy’s first professional picture with you just as soon as I receive it. Until next time…
