Come Sail Away with The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players in our monthly Color Challenge! So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Baja Breeze take center stage this week, with Whisper White as a neutral.  If you don’t have these colors, don’t despair.  Just substitute a similar hue!

Did you notice anything about this card?  There’s no distressing, no spritzing and no pearls!  Gasp! No, I am not ill.  I just wanted a clean, fresh look for Stampin’ Up!’s new Sail Away stamp, which will be available May 1st.  As for my layout, it is courtesy of  A Sketch for You to Try!

The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:
  • Clean and layered! It is possible to achieve a clean look and be layered! Straight lines and simple patterns, with a minimum of embellishments, help achieve the desired look.
  • Be bold! A strong image anchors a large card.  Sold as a single stamp, Sail Away was inked in VersaMark and heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  And to prevent unwanted speckles, remember to use your Embossing Buddy!
  • Bitz of glitz! Three Poppy Parade Glimmer Brads add just the perfect accent and “pop” of color!
I hope that you enjoyed today’s card.  My mojo and my ambition have been missing in action this week.  Hopefully they have enjoyed their vacation, and will return home by tomorrow! In the meantime, will you please let me know what you think about my “clean and layered” card?  Your comments are so very important to me!  And what about this fabulous new stamp?  I know I can’t wait to try a more traditional “Ann card” with it.  As always, if you should ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

It looks like you have some sparkle on your card, so I think NO to pearls.

I apologize for the short post today, but I will be back Sunday with The Paper Players Design Team card.  Until next time..

Pear Cake Delight for PPA#88

It’s Thursday, and time to play at PPA! This week, the Pals at Pals Paper Arts are challenging you to use Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake for Challenge #88.

I inked up images from the Growing Green and Four Frames stamp sets, and did a little stamping on vellum.  Of course…there are Pearls! You know me way too well!  I hope you enjoy a slice of Pear Cake Delight for the Pals!

The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:

  •  Emboss on vellum! For a touch of sparkle and shine, the “Rose” image from Growing Green was inked with VersaMark and stamped onto White Vellum.   It was heat embossed with Iridescent IceDaffodil Delight ink was then brayered onto the back before snipping out the roses with Paper Snips.
  •  Texture! The lovely “Flower Frame” from the Four Frames set was tinted with a Blender Pen and inks, and then zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  A Basic Pearl accents the “O” in “Love”, which comes from the sentiment “With Love and Caring” from the Thanks for Caring set.
  • Snip it! The “Leafy Frond” from Growing Green was stamped twice onto Naturals Ivory card stock and tinted with a Blender Pen and Pear Pizzazz ink.  One was snipped out, arranged diagonally in the lower right-hand side of the card and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The other formed the main image mat.
  •  Pearls! Basic Pearls form perfect flower centers!
I have been asked before what I do with all of the cards I make. I mail many of them out, and in fact several of you have received a card from me.  This one, however, will be given to a former student who is getting married next month.  I hope she likes it!  It is prettier in person, as the Iridescent Ice really shines!  As for the pearl question from yesterday…well, now you know!

What do you think of today’s card? It is a little different from my usual cards, and not my typical color selection. Please let me know in the comment that you leave.  And as always, if you have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…
