    Buried Treasure and Birthday Blog Candy

    “Buried Treasure” is a regular Friday feature here at The Stampin’ Schach. What are “Buried Treasures”? They are cards from my archives which are deserving of a revisit. Whether it’s a layout, a technique, or maybe just an underused stamp set, these cards are like a pirate’s booty of ideas worth a second look. Today’s card first appeared on The Stampin’ Schach on September 7, 2009.  I am proud to say that it was a winner for Mojo 103! CLICK HERE to see the original post with all of the delicious details!
    Layout: As with any Mojo card, it is all about the layout…and this layout is perfect for showcasing Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper and Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  Go floral with Paisley Petals or add a nautical touch with Nautical Expeditions paired with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
    Technique: Watercoloring with Blender Pens and inks worked well with this image from the now retired set, Gifts of the Earth!  Update the look with an image from Studio Sketches or go masculine with the Schooner from The Open Sea.  There are many suitable choices!

    More Updates:  Seam Binding?  Baker’s Twine? Scallop Trim Border Punch with Pearls? A fabulous bow?  As always, when I see these older cards, my mind races with all of the changes I would make!

    The Open Sea for the Pals

    It’s Thursday and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week we are featuring a fabulous sketch by our own talented Margaret Moody.  I took to The Open Sea and went nautical for PPA90.  I hope you enjoy today’s creation!

    The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:
    •  Collage! I focused on the circular element of the sketch and inked the “Map” image from The Open Sea with Not Quite Navy.  I added the fabulous “Galleon”, inked with Soft Suede, and a partial “Compass” inked with Basic Gray. The edges of the images were very lightly distressed with Crumb Cake ink.
    • Delicious details! Three Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets complements the nautical theme, while a  Vintage Trinket Button Brad accents the Compass image.
    • Tempting Tiny Tags! Who can resist the Tiny Tags suspended from Baker’s Twine with a Vintage Trinket safety pin!  Inked in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Jewelry Tag Punch, the edges of the tags were lightly distressed with Crumb Cake ink.
    Don’t you just love the  new Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper?  I can’t wait to make another card with it. And isn’t The Open Sea stamp set perfect for classic masculine cards?  I will be anxious to read what you think!
