Twin Talk, Blog Candy, and a CASE

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that you automatically receive the monthly publication,  Stampin’ Success! One of the features which I love are the various cards that are presented.  Today’s card is a CASE of one of these cards.  I demonstrated this card at one of my recent workshops, and everyone who attended actually made one as one of their make and takes. If you would like to join me as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, and start receiving your own copies of Stampin’ Success, email me today!

A little tip on adding the yummy Dazzling Diamonds:  Use a Two-Way Glue Pen!

Twin Talk

Muffy and Brody swept the blues in their classes at their latest show in Waterloo, Iowa on April 23rd.  The Twins assured me that they would be able to tell you all about it without any sibling rivalry.  We’ll see!

Brody:  I get to talk first because it’s my turn to be alpha dog.  My favorite puppy friend was in the ring with me, but I was a good boy and didn’t do a play bow or anything.  And the judd was..
Muffy:  Brody, it’s the “judge”.  How many times do I have to tell you that?  The Judds are..
Brody:  Muffy, I’m telling the story, and in my story it’s the judd.  Anyway the judd was really tall and kind of scary, so I was on my best behavior.  Lots of people looked at me before I went in the ring because they said my butt was getting bigger and that I was starting to lose my puppy fat.
Muffy:  My butt is still bigger and I have a bigger chest.  And I …
Brody:  But my head is prettier and it always will be.  Your head is still ugly and has white on it.  And you have those ugly white socks and fat feet…
Mom: Brody!
Brody:  Anyway, the judd liked me the best, and I got another pretty blue ribbon.
Muffy:  Well I got a blue ribbon AND a purple ribbon with white on it, too, ’cause I beat out a bunch of other dogs and was named Reserve Winner.
Brody:  Muffy is a preserved weiner! Muffy is a preserved weiner!
Muffy:  It’s Reserve W-I-N-N-E-R, Brody! It means I got second out of all the other girl dogs who won their classes.  Like Martha Stewart would say, “It’s a good thing!”
Brody:  I know Martha Stewart.  She is one of Mom’s card making friends.
Muffy:  Not that Martha Stewart, Brody!  The other Martha Stewart that is on TV.
Brody:  She makes her own dog treats!
Muffy:  Speaking of dog treats, did you know that Mom is offering Dog Candy.
Brody:  DOG CANDY???
Muffy:  Yes.  I heard her say something about giving away Dog Candy if people left comments on her blog.   Here’s a picture of it!

Brody:  That doesn’t look like very good dog candy to me.  But there are some pearls.  I LOVE pearls.  They look so pretty on my butt.
Muffy:  And look at that card.  It doesn’t look like Mom distressed it.  Maybe I should help her out.
Brody:  Hey, Muffy! There are some stamps sets, too.  Remember when I ate some of Mom’s stamps… at least the wood parts. Let’s go get into some of Mom’s stuff.  I feel like chewing.
Muffy:  Sounds like a good idea, Brody! I want some more of those sponges like I ate yesterday.  Last one into the stamp room is a…
Mom:  Twins!!!

Sailing with The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time for a fabulous Paper Players Sketch designed by Lesley! I used this opportunity to ink up Stampin’ Up!’s Sail Away stamp, and engage in a little emboss resist! I hope that you will enjoy Sailing with The Paper Players and join us in our challenge this week!

The Stampin’ Schach Stampin’ Tips:

  • Who can resist the Emboss Resist technique! I prefer Naturals Ivory, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and Crumb Cake ink.  If you are new to the technique, here is a video tutorial from earlier this year to explain how it’s done:

Looking for the Vintage look???
  • Curl the corners! I simply wrap and unwrap corners around a Stylus until the paper fibers break down.  I then separate the layers and re-curl!
  • Distress the edges! Soft Suede ink and a Sponge Dauber work wonders in adding a nice patina to the edges of all layers.
  • It’s all in the details! An adorable Vintage Trinkets Safety Pin adorns a Hemp Twine bow! An Antique Brad adds interest to a corner.
  • Spritz it! The Color Spritzer Tool, paired with a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, ages paper instantly.  And with the CST, practice makes perfect!
  • Anchors aweigh! Emboss resist Anchors, from the Open Sea stamp set, receive the unexpected with a twist of Hemp Twine!
What do you think of today’s monochromatic vintage card?  Won’t you leave me a comment and let me know?  And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…
