Snow Much Fun for the PPA

It’s Thursday and time to play the Pals Paper Arts challenge.  This week we are featuring a fabulous sketch by Margaret Moody.  For my Design Team card I opted to use a set which will be in Stampin’ Up’s  2011 – 2012 Idea Book and Catalog entitled “Snow Much Fun”.  In addition, I used two of the new In-Colors, Pool Party and Calypso Coral and a snippet of Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Keepin’ It Fun

Keep your whimsical designs fun by…

  • …doing the Calypso at the Pool! Stampin’ Up!’s newest colors, Coral Calypso and Pool Party add a fun and retro flair to this card, especially when paired with a snippet of Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper! Although these two colors are not found in the actual DSP, they coordinate nicely.

  • …cutting around a section of the image!  Here I cut around the top hat and the scarf.

  • …keeping it light! Just a hint of color has been added to the heat embossed images.  This allows the eye to focus on the image without distraction!

  • …adding a silly sentiment!  Flag the end and use it to spotlight a section of the image, in this case a little blue bird!

  • …creating your own whimsical embellishment! A snowflake made with the Northern Frost Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die is popped up on a punched Calypso Coral circle.  Topping off this duo is a heat embossed Bird on a Snowball, another one of the adorable images in this set.

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE snowmen, and this new set is certainly adorable!  And what do you think about these new colors? Let me know in your comment today.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

A Peek at the PPA

Can you believe that it is Wednesday and time for a peek at this week’s Pals Paper Arts card?  This week I will be using a set from the new 2011 – 2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  I hope that you will join me tomorrow for the reveal.

Plus, a treat and a scratch behind the ears for little Muffy Schach! Muffy won her classes at the big dog show this past weekend.  Poor little Brody showed well, but was not a winner…according to the judges. However, he is a winner in our hearts.  Until next time…

2011 PALS Retirement Blog Hop

Welcome to the June PALS HOP! This month, we are featuring one last look at some of the stamps and accessories that are retiring July 1st when Stampin’ Up!’s  2011 – 2012 Idea Book and Catalog debuts. If you hopped over from Barbara Chatzkel, I’m stop Number 9 on the hopI’m glad you hopped in! I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for paper crafted creations! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the PALS HOP LINE-UP at the end of today’s post and you’ll be back on track!  The retiring set which I will be showcasing is A Wish for Peace.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:   Extra Special Touches

Extra Special Touches could be as simple as…

  • …a trio of Basic Pearls in the corner!

  • …a dove in flight, with curled wings, popped up on a Stampin’ Dimensional!
  • …a Scalloped Border Circle trimmed with pearls and covered with Baja Breeze Glass Glitter!  This sweet little circle was created using the Perfect Pennant Bigz Die.  A 2-Way Glue Pen is a no-mess way to add glitter!

  • …a flagged sentiment!  Two snips is all it takes!
  • …an Antique Brad and Vintage Trinket Safety Pin!
  • …combining the two!
  • …curled corners! I use the File from the Distressing Essentials Kit, but a Stylus will also do the trick.
Retiring products used on this card include:  A Wish for Peace stamp set (W 111614), Baja Breeze Glass Glitter (121883),  Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper (117163)

A Wish for Peace is one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets.  Although it will be retiring from Stampin’ Up!’s inventory, I have made the decision to keep it for my personal use, along with Friends 24-7.  How about you?  Is there a retiring set that you hate to see go?  And what do you think about today’s card?  Please leave a comment letting me know.  As always, I am always available to answer any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use. I am only an email away.  Now hop along for more inspiring ideas from Joan Norris, stop Number 10 on the PALS HOP! Thanks for “hopping” by!  Until next time…
