Today’s Buried Treasure, which first appeared on May 8, 2009, was selected for two reasons. One…it is a perfect layout for showcasing coordinating patterns of Designer Series Paper. Two…it shows the power of contrasting colors. Timeless and versatile, just think of the possible sets, color combinations, and designer papers you can use with this layout. To see the original post featuring today’s treasure, please click HERE. Layout Options: This layout is perfect for cards where you wish to showcase coordinating Designer Series Paper patterns. I can’t wait to use it with Mocha Morning Specialty and with Well Worn. This is also the perfect layout for showcasing long vertical images such as Field Flowers or the lonesome Pine from Lovely as a Tree. Or how about the Giraffe from Zoo Review? A skinny Snowman from Snow Much Fun? Put on those “thinking caps” and see what sets you can find which would work perfectly! As for color combinations, I can’t wait to try a little Calypso Coral contrasting with Pool Party.
Embellishment Updates: A rosette, medallion or flowers would be perfect for the circular element on this card. Satin ribbon with an oversized bow would also be a stunning option for this section. Plus there is always room for Pearls! Of course, don’t forget the new Triple Punches and the Lace Ribbon Border punch…how cool would these be!
Techniques: Curl the corners of the central image and distress the edges, too! Maybe you would prefer to use the Inlaid Embossing technique on the back panel! Emboss Resist the image! Zip the horizontal strip through the Big Shot with a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder! Zip the background through the Big Shot with the Stripes or Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. Just let your imagination soar!
I hope you enjoyed this card from my past…even though my cardmaking past only goes back to 2009! And I hope that you take the time to examine your card making past to see what Buried Treasure you have, just waiting for you to work your updating magic. As always, your comments are important to me, so take a few minutes to let me know what you think about today’s “lesson”…or even just to say “Hi!” And if you ever have any questions about the cards that I make or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…
Card Winners
Attention Cam: YOU were randomly selected to be the recipient of the “Fun in the Sun” card. Here is Cam’s comment:
Hi Ann, your sneak peak card is surely a vintage one. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow. Now, for the sunny card, I can’t believe you’re giving that away. The coloring is so vibrant and true to life. I would be honored to be the recipient of the card. I tried (but unsuccessfully) to “color” (CASED) as you have it but haven’t come close to yours. Sigh… Cam, if you will email your address to me, I will send your sunny little card right out in the mail.
Attention Shari: YOU were randomly selected to be the recipient of the Snow Much Fun emboss resist card. Here is Shari’s comment:
Oh my stars – I’m squealing over here. This is so cute! He looks like a roasted marshmallow snowman. As Miss Daisy would say – I’m more happier that I got this set! We need to work on her grammar. Thanks for blessing my day and inspiring my art. 🙂woof, woof to Brody that he’s feeling better! :))))
Shari, if you will email your address to me, I will send your snowman card right out in the mail.
(Stay tuned for my second post later today. I will share what was on my first order from the new Idea Book and Catalog!)
