A Peek at the PPA

Oh my gosh…time has gotten away from me! Can you believe that is Wednesday and time for a sneak peek at this week’s Pals Paper Arts card?  After Convention, I am still so far behind with answering emails and checking everyone’s blogs.  Plus, I didn’t get the Twins back from Michelle the Handler’s until late tonight.  Of course, they want Mom to get off of the ‘puter and play with them.  So…I will oblige them by making this a quick post! I hope you join me for Thursday’s reveal of a vintage-style card!

Would You Like Today’s Card?

It can be yours simply by leaving a comment on today’s and tomorrow’s posts.  I will randomly select a winner to receive this card…if he or she would like it!

My Gift from Shelli

As a person who was lucky enough to find someone to enjoy the Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit this past April, I was designated a VIP at this year’s Convention.  One of my perks, among many, was a VIP tour of the Riverton Stampin’ Up! headquarters.  At the end of the tour, each of us received a cellophane bag filled with carmels and a roll of the new IN-Color ribbon.  Adorning the bag was a tag/bookmark, made by Shelli and her daughters, Shalae and Sara.  Shelli autographed each one!  Don’t you just LOVE it?  I did!

More Convention Inspiration

Just as I thought…I came home with so many ideas I just can’t wait to get stamping! However, at my age, it takes me a little longer to recuperate from a trip like this one than in the past! But rest assured, I am inspired and motivated!  Here are a few more pictures from Convention!
The entrance foyer of the Stampin’ Up! Riverton facility is quite impressive.

I wish this were my fireplace!

Shelli’s Office is so chic!

I snapped this cute cart at Riverton.

Paper flowers were abloom everywhere!

I can’t wait to CASE this and add my own vintage touches!

Isn’t this scrapbook page to die for?  It’s from a Main Stage presentation.

This fabulous Christmas box AND a discount can be yours during the $99 Starter Kit special.  “Test Drive” Stampin’ Up! If you have ever thought of joining the fun, now is the time, especially when you can take advantage of this price.  Just look at what you get! And don’t forget the box. (Shh!  I get one, too, if you join me.)  Of course, as with all Starter Kits, this one is customizable!
I would love to have you join me at Convention 2012!  This is my personal invitation to you to take advantage of the $99 Starter Kit Special. If you have any questions, I am only an email away!

Oops…What’s this dog picture doing in today’s post?  Brody is waiting patiently for Mom to come home from a week of fun! Notice how much better his eye is looking?
Join me tomorrow as I share a picture of my “Shelli Bookmark”, autographed by Shelli herself and made with the help of  her daughters for the VIP demonstrators.  I LOVE it!  Plus…I see Blog Candy in the near future!  I know you will not want to miss out!  Until next time…

Summertime for the Pals

Welcome to this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge! We have a theme challenge planned for you…It’s Summertime, and the Livin’ Is Easy!  For my summertime scene, I selected an image from the new set, Little Friends!  Because I was pressed for time, I opted for a quick and easy card, allowing the watercolored image to be the major focus.  And just how does this fit into a summertime theme?  Why in my imagination, this little tyke is having his own parade!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Focusing on the Image

  • Watercoloring with blender pens! How quick and easy it is to touch the tip of a Blender Pen to an ink pad and then color an image! The inks used for this little guy were:  Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight.  Sahara Sand was used for shadowing. The image itself was stamped with Early Espresso Craft Ink and heat embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

  • Mat-magic! The central image was matted onto Cherry Cobbler card stock, and then onto a larger mat of Naturals Ivory.  Of course, instant speckles were imparted using a Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker!  Popping the image up on Stampin’ Dimensionals brings it to the forefront.
  • Well Worn! No need to distress when your Designer Series Paper is already “Well Worn”! Don’t you love it!  The muted colors once again allow the focus to fall on the image.
  • A tailored bow! A tailored bow compliments rather than detracts from the image.  Cherry Cobbler Scallop Dots Ribbon is the perfect choice to draw our attention back to the Cherry Cobbler shirt, wagon and pennant.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  For those of you wanting an option which is quicker to make than some of my other designs, this is a viable choice for you!  What do you think?  Won’t you please let me know by leaving me a comment?  And remember…if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…
