A Peek at the PPA

How about a peek at this week’s Pals Paper Arts card?  It features two new products from the Holiday Mini.  This card is rustic and distressed.  Will you join me for the reveal Thursday?  And don’t forget to stop by to see this week’s Pals Artist Picks

This Card Can Be Yours

I will randomly select one person to receive this card from all comments left on today’s and Thursday’s post.  I LOVE to share my cards with you!

Brody Update

The histiopathology report is back.  Brody wanted to tell you about it himself.

Brody:  My favorite vet called my Mom Tuesday and said that I was “be nine”.  I don’t really know what Dr. Rita meant by that because I only be one.  But Muffy told me that is a good thing.
Muffy: Did you tell Mom’s stamping friends about me?
Brody:  Did you have an opurration, too?
Muffy:  No, silly! I won another point toward my Champion title in Indiana.  The judge said I was very nice.
Brody:  If the judd said that he doesn’t know you very well.
Muffy:  Why…if you weren’t recuperating I would bite you for that remark!
Me:  Muffy Lin Schach! Did I hear you say you were going to bite your brother?  You head to your crate right this minute. We don’t bite!
Muffy: But Mom…
Me: No “But Moms” this time! Get that Boxer butt moving!
Muffy:  You just wait, Brody! You’ll get yours!
Brody:  I’ll get mine?  Did you bring me something from Indy-Anna?  Did you bring me a toy???  I LOVE you Muffy!

Unfortunately, after Brody and Muffy wrote their part of the post Tuesday evening, poor Brody did something to cause his incision to begin bleeding again.  I applied pressure to stop the bleeding, and we have limited his movement.  I called the vet. He goes in to see Dr. Rita first thing in morning, before he has anything to eat or drink…just in case they need to anesthesize.  Arghhh! But the good news is that the tumor was not cancerous and yes….little Muffy continues her march to her title.  I am sure they will both keep you posted.  Until next time…

Peace, Hope and Love for the Players

It’s time to play with The Paper Players! For Challenge #60, the talented LeAnne Pugliese has prepared a clean and simple sketch for you! I decided to use the new Stitched Stockings stamp set from the Holiday Mini, along with the new Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I am always up for a challenge, so how about you? I can’t wait to see what you create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

  • Paper Piece! I stamped the Argyle stocking from Stitched Stockings twice…once in Cherry Cobbler and once in Marina Mist…so that I could piece the Marina Mist design accents onto the Cherry Cobbler Argyle stocking.  The Snowflake stocking was stamped twice in Marina Mist, and the heel and toe of one were snipped off and adhered to the Cherry Cobbler Dotted stocking.
  • Pearls! Basic Pearls were tinted red using a permanent marker. They were then used to accent the Marina Mist Snowflake stocking and the Marina Mist ribbon. I know this ribbon is retired, but if you are like me, sometimes you just need to use up retired supplies.  The new 1/2″ Scalloped Dots Ribbon in Marina Mist is a current option.
  • Cuteness factor!  Mini Clothespins, with Baker’s Twine bows,  “attach” the stocking to the panel. The words “PEACE”, “HOPE” and “LOVE” were selectively inked on the sentiment from the Gifts of Christmas stamp set.  I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  They were then punched out with the Jewelry Tag Punch and tucked into the stockings.

You may be wondering why I selected Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist for my stocking colors.  Originally I was going to use one of the plaid patterns from the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper collection, which contained these two colors.  However, after I completed the stockings, I decided that the plaid looked too busy.  So I switched and decided to go with embossed card stock.

I also had the fabulous idea of creating a mantle scene, but I decided that I was already pushing the “clean and simple” idea.  However, one idea that did come to mind…after the card was completed…was that it would be cute to transform the stocking panel into a gift card holder.

And when you opened it up, it would contain a little pocket where you could tuck away cash or a gift card.  Of course, I would want this adhered to the front of the original card…a card on a card!

Your comments are important to me, so please leave me a comment and let me know if you enjoyed today’s card.  And if you have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…

Did You Win This Card?

The winner of the Gently Falling card, as randomly selected, is Brandi C!

AnonymousBrandi C said…

I love the card. As a fellow Boxer mommy, I just wanted to write to say my fingers are crossed for Mr. Brody. My Boxer has hip dysplasia (I hope I spelled that correctly) and I pamper him a lot to keep it from getting worse.

Brandi, just send me your address, and I will drop the card in the mail to you pronto!

I would love to thank all of you who left comments.  I really do appreciate it!  I will be having more card give-aways soon.  Plus, I have more retired Designer Series Paper that will be heading off to a new home, too!
