Music for the Players

It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players! This week’s Theme Challenge, selected by the talented LeAnne Pugliese, is right up my alley:  Music! According to LeAnne, your creation can be inspired by musical notes, a favorite song, or even a tune that gets stuck in your head…like the theme from The Brady Bunch!  I had so many ideas, it was difficult to chose just one…but I decided to create a Christmas card.  My son has called dibs on this one.  It is earmarked for his trumpet professor!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Clean and Elegant

This card measures 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.

  • Black, White, and a touch of Gold! Color conveys so much feeling when it comes to design.  For elegance, traditional black and white does the trick.  For an extra “pop” of color, add a layer of Brushed Gold!
  • Mute the Music! The Music Notes wheel was used to create the background layer.  To keep the notes from competing with the focal image, two sheets of White Vellum paper were layered over the top!
  • The heat is on!  Mimic the look of expensive engraving by embossing! Simply ink the image with VersaMark, sprinkle with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder, shake off the excess, and heat!

  • Embellish with a bow!  Create perfect bows every time with 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and the VIDEO found in THIS post!

  • Finish with Pearls! A trio of Basic Pearls is the “pearl-fect” touch!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card, and I hope that Dr. Briney will, too!  He has been Brady’s trumpet instructor since Brady was in sixth grade.  After eleven years, they know each other well.  After graduation this coming spring, Brady will certainly miss him!

Your comments are very important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  And remember, I LOVE answering your questions about the techniques that I use and the cards that I create.  Never hesitate to email me! Until next time…

I love Saturday! It’s the day that I share my Paper Players peek with you.  I hope my little peek will intrigue you enough that you will join me for tomorrow’s reveal.  And I also hope that you will stop by The Paper Players and check out this week’s Cuts Above and Headliner!

I put the random number generator at Random.org to work to select the recipient of this card:

And the winner is:  #110 Jodi

Anonymous Jodi said…(in reference to the Christmas Lodge card)

Love the rustic feel of this one. The evergreen is so pretty with the lodge stamp. I like the version with the peace tag the best. Think with the rustic look, metal brads would be compliment the rustic feel more than the pearls.
Jodi, if you would like to receive this Pink Friend Card, please send me an email by Monday, October 3rd,  6:00 PM CST with your address and I will drop it in the mail.

Peace Prevails

The hands-down winner of Peace vs. Pearls was Peace!  Woo hoo!  Thanks for your input! I really do appreciate it.

Of course, your comments are always important to me.  I will be anxious to read what you think of today’s sneak peek…and even more anxious to read what you think about the reveal tomorrow! Please join me then! Until next time…
