From Me to You in …32

Welcome to The Stampin’ Schach and a new feature…From ME to YOU! This feature highlights a card which can be made in less than 45 minutes, and includes a step-by step tutorial for those of you who would like to recreate the look.  Today’s card took 32 minutes from start to finish, and is a great choice for those of you who have indicated that you would like to be able to create vintage and rustic cards in a minimal amount of time.  I hope you enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Vintage/Rustic 101

1.  Cut a standard 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long card base from Crumb Cake.

2.  Cut a 4″ wide x 5-1/4″ long piece of Red Plaid paper from the  Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper.  Brayer with Crumb Cake ink and distress the edges using Soft Suede ink and a Sponge Dauber.  Adhere to the card base.

3.  Ink the Tree image from Christmas Lodge with Always Artichoke and stamp on a 3-1/4″ wide x 4-1/2″ long piece of Naturals Ivory card stock.

4.  Ink the Waterspot image from French Foliage with Soft Suede and stamp off once.  Randomly stamp the image mat with the Waterspots.

5.  Using the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, add instant speckles.

6.  Distress the edges using the Seven Sided Tool from the Cutter Kit.

7.  Using the Sponge Dauber and Soft Suede ink, ink the edges of the image mat.

8.  Using the Round File from the Distressing Kit, curl up one edge.

9.  Make a bow from Chantilly Crochet Trim and leave one end long. Tea Stain the lace using the Tea Stain Stampin’ Spot from the Distressing Essentials kit. Use Mini Glue Dots to attach the bow to the front of the card, adhering the long edge under the image mat.  Allow the short tail to hang free.

10.  Attach a Safety Pin from Vintage Trinkets to the lace, and add Basic Pearls under the curled corner.

Adhering Vellum

Several of you asked questions about how I adhered the vellum to this card:

SNAIL adhesive was used under the image mat and underneath the ribbon.  A small amount of Dotto adhesive was used in the upper corners and was virtually invisible.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s new feature.  As always, your comments are important to me, so won’t you let me know what you think about today’s “From ME to YOU in” card?  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

Music for the Players

It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players! This week’s Theme Challenge, selected by the talented LeAnne Pugliese, is right up my alley:  Music! According to LeAnne, your creation can be inspired by musical notes, a favorite song, or even a tune that gets stuck in your head…like the theme from The Brady Bunch!  I had so many ideas, it was difficult to chose just one…but I decided to create a Christmas card.  My son has called dibs on this one.  It is earmarked for his trumpet professor!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Clean and Elegant

This card measures 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.

  • Black, White, and a touch of Gold! Color conveys so much feeling when it comes to design.  For elegance, traditional black and white does the trick.  For an extra “pop” of color, add a layer of Brushed Gold!
  • Mute the Music! The Music Notes wheel was used to create the background layer.  To keep the notes from competing with the focal image, two sheets of White Vellum paper were layered over the top!
  • The heat is on!  Mimic the look of expensive engraving by embossing! Simply ink the image with VersaMark, sprinkle with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder, shake off the excess, and heat!

  • Embellish with a bow!  Create perfect bows every time with 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and the VIDEO found in THIS post!

  • Finish with Pearls! A trio of Basic Pearls is the “pearl-fect” touch!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card, and I hope that Dr. Briney will, too!  He has been Brady’s trumpet instructor since Brady was in sixth grade.  After eleven years, they know each other well.  After graduation this coming spring, Brady will certainly miss him!

Your comments are very important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  And remember, I LOVE answering your questions about the techniques that I use and the cards that I create.  Never hesitate to email me! Until next time…
