Welcome to first Pals Paper Arts challenge of 2012. Before we get to the challenge, we would like to say good-by to two old friends, Debbie Pierce and Barbara Chatzkel, and say hello to three new members of the design team: Sandie Conner, Cindy Hall and Dawn Tidd. When you visit the PPA blog, you will also notice some changes with our layout and that we will be going to two challenges a month. Plus, we have extended our deadline for linking your project to one full week. As always, we welcome all products and players! We can’t wait to see what you have created! And now, let the challenge begin!
Are you feeling blue? Does the post-holiday period have you singing the blues? Or are there blue skies smilin’ at you? Then you need to join the Pals at Pals Paper Arts in this week’s Color Challenge PPA126: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla! As for me, there is nothing like a Cup of Thanks to start the New Year off right! Enjoy!
The finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long.
- Razzle Dazzle! Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter adds a touch of bling to the pretty pansies decorating the Tea Cup from the Tea Shoppe set. I used a little Tombow Adhesive, which I painted on with a paintbrush, and then I sprinkled on the glitter, knocking off the excess.
- Texture! After randomly stamping the Very Vanilla panel, it was zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A Blender Pen, with Not Quite Navy and Always Artichoke inks, was used to add a needed spot of color!
- Snip a sentiment! After stamping a sentiment, add interest by snipping a “V” in one end…creating a banner effect!
- Lots of Layers! The Dotted Oval pattern from the new Twitterpated Designer Series Paper coordinates perfectly with Baja Breeze Stripes and Not Quite Navy Dots from the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stacks! Coordination…that’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up!
Want to learn more about the method behind the madness? Click on this “Down Home with Ann Schach” video, where I explain the thought process behind the design. It is not a tutorial, nor is it a glossy production. It is me doing what I love best…talking! In case you were wondering about the absence of videos, I was needing a tripod, which arrived this Christmas courtesy of the Twins! I promise, the quality will get better. Practice makes perfect!
Won’t you please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of today’s card? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one. And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…
Brody Update: The word of the day is benign! Brody wants to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers! Now let’s hope that this is the end of those pesky Boxer Bumps!
