Stamp Set Winner

I would like to thank all of you for the comments you have left over the past two days. I have made a list of topics for videos, and I will begin work on them after I return from Leadership.

I would also like to thank you for the names you suggested for my “Down Home” videos.  Several of you are so creative and clever. The concept of these videos was that I wanted you to feel like you were here with me, in my home, as I went through the design process.  That is why I originally selected the “Down Home” title.  But I had some people mention that is was maybe too “countrified”.  But you know what, there were enough of you that liked the name…so I think that I will leave it as “Down Home with Ann Schach” for now.  After all, I am still a country girl at heart.

I was also offering the Eat Chocolate stamp set to one lucky randomly selected person.  And that person is:  #106  Pat P.  Here is what Pat had to say:

Gorgeous Card. I like the layering and colors and do still prefer the white pearls.
Just send me your address Pat, and I will drop it in the mail to you upon my return from Leadership!  And speaking of Leadership, I am going to be away from my computer and emails beginning Tuesday until Sunday.  However, I do have posts ready to go providing there are no glitches!  Until next time…

Thanks for the Players

It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players.   This week the lovely LeAnne selected a trio of colors for our first color challenge of the year…and what a challenge it was for me:  Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz…three colors which I rarely use.  However, armed with a Splitcoast sketch (SC209), I enjoyed designing this feminine thank-you card.  I hope you will join us at The Paper Players this week! We can’t wait to see what you create!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: A Feminine Thank You
This card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Lovely Layers! One way to add depth to a card is through layering. But look for patterns that balance and coordinate, such as these small patterns from the Twitterpated and Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper collections.
  • Feminine Touches!  Placing the Corset image from Rue Des Fleurs in the Oval Designer Frame mimics the look of a brooch.  A triple bow created from Calypso Coral Organdy Ribbon, a Sale-A-Bration item, enhances the delicate look!
  • Pearl and Pear Pizzazz! A Pear Pizzazz Labels Framelit takes on even more pizzazz with the addition of Basic Pearls, providing the pearl-fect anchor for the Oval Designer Frame!
  • Snip-a-V Doo Dah! A free-hand snipped “V” adds interest to the sentiment, breaking up the straight lines associated with the various layers.
  • Complete with pleats! Nothing beats the new 3/8″ Pleated Satin Ribbon.  It is so versatile…as you will see in my upcoming cards! The Pear Pizzazz hue adds a lovely “pop” of color when layered upon the Calypso Coral paper.

In yesterday’s post, I tempted you with a peak at how this card would look with green pearls.  Here is the complete picture:

It’s not bad…but I carefully removed those green pearls, which I had colored with a permanent marker,  and added Pearls Au Naturale in their places.  I felt they coordinated better with the natural pearls on the corset, making the card more cohesive.

    A Twin Win

After a well-earned vacation of a few months, little Muffy Lin (UKC Grand Champion Cimarron’s Do You Know the Muffin Man) entered the show ring again in Melrose Park, IL Saturday.  Not only did she win Best of Breed, the little squirt took first in her Group, and competed for Best in Show.  She was thrilled to be strutting her stuff for the judges again.  Brother Brody still has two weeks to wait before he begins the 2012 season.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I would be interested in knowing your thoughts about the green pearls. Please let me know what you think in today’s comment.  And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Two Peeks, Blog Goals 2012, and Free Stamp Set

It’s time to take a peek at this week’s The Paper Players challenge card. I have two pictures of the card based upon pearl colors. Therefore, you will get two peeks! I definitely will want you to join me for the reveal on Sunday so you can tell me which version you prefer.  They are exactly the same except for pearl colors.

Of course, you really can’t make an informed decision until you see the entire card.  But so far…which do you prefer?  It will be interesting to see if your choice changes when you see the reveal!

    Blog Goals for 2012

When I was teaching, one of the assignments which I gave my students was to write down their goals.  Research has shown that if we write down our goals and visit them periodically, we are more likely to achieve them.  And I never asked my students to do anything that I myself did not do.  Therefore, here are the goals which I have for The Stampin’ Schach for this year:

    • Create more videos.  Many of you have indicated that you enjoy my “Down Home with Ann” videos where I go through my thought and design processes.
    • Share more tips…but you will need to check out my Facebook page or Tweets for these.  I am going to try to regularly share these on Mondays and Fridays!
    • Create a lesson each week.  These will be From Me to You cards, with complete step-by-step instructions.  As always, I will share these freely.
    • Of course, I will still be sharing my Pals Paper Arts and The Paper Players Design Team Cards with you on Sundays and Thursdays!
    • Get back on track with my Buried Treasure feature.

I will begin to implement these changes upon my return from Leadership!

Would You Like This Stamp Set?

I have a brand new “Eat Chocolate” clear mount stamp set eager to wing its way to a new home.  This set is from the 2011 Occasions Mini catalog. TIP:  Whenever I receive a new stamp set, I add a sticker  recording the catalog in which it was first featured and the year.  The little green sticker on this set says “OM 2011″…Occasions Mini 2011.  One lucky person will be randomly selected from all comments left on this and Sunday’s post through Monday, Noon, CST.  But, I need your help.  Within your comment, would you do one or all of the following things:

    • Suggest a different name for the “Down Home with Ann Schach” video segments.
    • List a technique you would love to learn more about
    • Suggest any other feature you would like to see on my blog

I can’t wait to read your comments! Until next time…
