Toxic Treats for Freshly Made Sketches

It’s time for another challenge from Freshly Made Sketches! This week’s fabulous sketch is courtesy of the talented Jennifer Timko.  I thought it was a perfect sketch for highlighting one of my favorite Designer Series Papers from the Holiday Catalog, Howlstooth and Scaringbone.  If you like plaid as much as I do, you will find today’s card to be a treat!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Focus on Designer Series Paper

The finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Mad about plaid! Plaid, stripes and polka dots come together in a delightful mix of patterns! The key to making them work together is the coordination of colors.
  • Terrific texture!  The Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and More Mustard card stock form the perfect backdrop for the Witch image from the Toxic Treats stamp set.

Sometimes less is more, and such is the case with this sweet, little card.  Whipped up in minutes, its charm lies with the paper, and the slightly retro feel.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I felt that with such strong patterns of Designer Series Paper, that embellishments were not necessary.  What do you think?  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! Of course, I love to hear from you.  So…if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  I leave you with a picture of Lexi sleeping on the ottoman.  Doesn’t she remind you of Muffy?  Until next time…

Ready for School with The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week is a Theme Challenge:  Back to School.  With a theme like this, I pulled out my trusty Greeting Card Kids set and Storytime Designer Series Paper and quickly created this “Friends” card.  I hope you like it!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

The finished card is 4-1/4″ wide and 5-1/2″ long.

  • Faux Watercoloring! Watercoloring with Blender Pens and inks is so easy! This adorable duo from Greeting Card Kids was tinted using the following inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Midnight Muse, and a Blush Blossom Stampin’ Write Marker.  It doesn’t get any easier!
  • A “Friendly” sentiment! The “Friends” sentiment from the Sweet Essnetials set was inked with Early Espresso and stamped onto a snippet of the Writing Paper pattern from the Storytime Designer Paper collection. To add extra interest, paper piercing was done using the Essentials Paper Piercing Templates and a Vintage Trinkets Safety Pin was added.
  • Curl the Corners! The corners of the pennant were curled and accented with a Linen Thread Bow.

Isn’t this a cute little card?  The Storytime patterns are perfect for a variety of children’s cards…or even vintage-style cards for the kid in all of us! As always, I look forward to reading your comments.  Won’t you please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of today’s card?  And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time…
