“Where’s My Mommy?”… Lexi Lou’s First Post

Today is one of those days when I am filled with happiness, yet sadness, too!  I have started my journey to beautiful Salt Lake City and the Stampin’ Up! Convention! I am thrilled to re-connect with so many of my demonstrator friends, yet I am saddened because I will be away from The Twins and Lexi.  I have only been away from Lexi once, overnight…and I am worried about her since I will be gone for nearly a week.  Here is how I imagine the conversation will go on that first day, complete with old and new pictures of her.

Lexi: Muppy?  Bwodee? Where’s my mommy? I have wooked for her everywhere and can’t find her.

I wooked under this chair, and she’s not there.  Will you help me wook for her?
Muffy:  Lexi, please.  I am trying to get some beauty sleep here.  I have to work really hard to look this good.

Lexi: Bwodee, will you help me?
Brody:  Lexi, I really need to nap. With you waking us up at 3:00 AM every morning just to go potty, I am so tired.  Go look some more. I’m sure you’ll find her.

Lexi:  Mommy! Mommy! Are you in the back yard?

Did you go to the neighbor’s yard?

Muppy and Bwodee, I can’t find my mommy anywhere.  Pwease help.
Muffy: Oh, all right.  Come on Brody, help me look out the window for her.

Lexi, we don’t see her anywhere!
Lexi: But who will sleep with me.  Momma always sleeps with me.

Will I have to sleep under the chair by myself?

Will I have to sleep in my crate?

Will I sleep by myself on my pildow?

Will I sleep with you, Muppy?

Will I sleep with you Bwodee?

Where will I sleep?
Muffy:  How about with Dad!

Lexi:  OK. But where’s my mommy?
Muffy:  Well, Lexi.  Every year she flies to Salt Lake City to the Stampin’ Up! Convention.
Lexi:  She flies like a bird?
Muffy:  Well, not quite.
Lexi: And what’s kunbenchin?  Is it like a dog show?
Brody:  Let’s save that story for another day.  Come along Little Lexi!

Let’s play Dog Pile on Mup… er Muffy!

Safe travels to everyone heading to “Kunbenchin”!  Until next time…

From My Heart for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday and time to play at The Paper Players! This week, the oh-so-talented LeAnne is hosting a Clean and Simple “Wordsmith” Challenge…use a sentiment, poem, or verse as your main element! What fun! I selected a quote by James Taylor from the “From My Heart” set.  I will admit that I was a big fan of James back in the day…and I still am!  And yes, there is an “oops” here.  I made my card a little dirty.  Yep, I pulled out the Color Spritzer, Sponge Dauber, and Water Spot stamp.  I just totally missed the “clean” part.  Shhh! It can be our “dirty” little secret…

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: “Dirty” and Simple Vintage

Today’s card measures 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″.

  • Vintage texture! The Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is a vintage, romantic delight! And what can be easier than zipping it through the Big Shot along with Very Vanilla card stock!
  • Bejeweled! Basic Pearls add class and elegance to the Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Adorning Accents Edgelit!
  • Sentimental journey! Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple Stampin’ Write Markers were used to ink up the sentiment.  The “enjoying” section of the image was inked again in Soft Suede.  After snipping it out, it was popped up on dimensionals and positioned onto the base.  An Apothecary Accent Framelit was used to cut it out.  The paper piercing was easy, courtesy of the template in the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card!  Won’t you let me know in your comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one!  In fact, after a whirlwind week of getting ready for Convention, I plan on finally catching up on my commenting and blog surfing…during my three hour and fifty minute layover in Dallas!  It is off to Salt Lake City for me!  Now let’s just keep our fingers crossed that my scheduled posts do indeed show up!  If you have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques that I use, don’t hesitate to email me.  I will have access to my email, for sure!  Until next time…

Open Sleigh for Freshly Made Sketches

It’s Freshly Made Sketches day! This week, the talented Tui Nathan has another fabulous sketch for us.  I opted for a quick and easy holiday card using the new Open Sleigh stamp set, just perfect if you have several cards that you need to create.  Of course, if you are going to mail your cards…omit the buttons and add a decorative border…either stamped or punched.  How easy is that!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Rich and Classy
The finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Texture! Add interest in an instant with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  With the variety of embossing folders available, you can change the look simply by changing the folder.  When my holiday preorder arrives, I can’t wait to experiment with the new folders I ordered!
  • Sleigh Day!  The Open Sleigh looks warm and welcoming stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Naturals Ivory card stock.  Four little Pearls on the ornate runners are the perfect accent!
  • Button! Button!  Natural Designers Buttons add a warm, rustic look, while the Linen Thread bows contribute to the texture.  Want to mail this card?  A decorative border, either stamped or punched, can be substituted for the buttons.

I hope you enjoyed today’s design.  I think it would make a wonderful masculine holiday card. What do you think? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  Of course, I am always available to answer any questions you may have about the cards I create or the techniques I use.

Are YOU heading to Salt Lake City for Stampin’ Up!’s Convention?  If so, let me know.  I would LOVE to meet you!  Until next time…
