Warm Winter Mittens for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, our challenge is hosted by the oh-so-talented Nance Leedy.  What a classic sketch she has created for us! With cooler temperatures on the horizon, what could be better than a sweet little pair of “mitties” with a hint of retro-vibe.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Retro-licious!
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Mitties!  For a country-retro vibe, what works better than Baja Breeze and Cherry Cobbler!  A little Early Espresso reindeer adds a dose of cuteness.  Suspending them with Baker’s Twine from an over-sized retired Stampin’ Up! button seemed to be the perfect solution for attaching them to the card!
  • Scandinavian styling! The Nicely Knit Stampin’ Around Wheel adds a traditonal Scandinavian pattern.  To make this element a little wider, I added the Lines and Dots images from Make a Mitten.
  • Sentimental! What could be a better sentiment  for a warm winter mittens card than Warm Winter Wishes, from Winter Memories!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card! I don’t often say this about my cards, because I usually find some little thing that I would like to change, but I liked this one.  I think it is because it reminded me of a pair of mittens I wore half-a-century ago.  Isn’t that the way it goes sometimes?  You connect with something because it brings back pleasant memories of days done by…

So what do you think of today’s card?  Don’t you just love those little reindeer? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  And as always, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away…

Farewell to Freshly Made Sketches

All good things must come to an end, and so it is with my position as a Guest Designer at Freshly Made Sketches.  I was thrilled to be selected as a part of this insanely talented group of stampers.  However, with Lexi  beginning her show career and my travels with her, Brady’s upcoming visits home,  and a myriad of Stampin’ Up! events which are being added to my calendar,  I felt that the time was right for me to step down.  I will miss the team at FMS, but I will treasure the time I spent with them.  And I know I will continue to play with them as time allows.  And so…for one last time…

It’s Wednesday, and time to play at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week, the talented Narelle has a classic sketch for us.  I hope you enjoy today’s card.  It’s easy!  The Big Shot does all the work.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card meaasures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Let it snow! The Snow Flurry die was used to make this pearl accented snowflake.  A scalloped circle punched from Fan Fair Designer Series Paper makes this icy confection “pop” off the page! And yes…that middle layer has been embossed!

  • Non-traditional! Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla make an elegant color combination when embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

  • Versatile sentiment!  The Warm Winter Wishes sentiment, from Winter Memories, is perfect for a winter card.  This makes this card one which can be sent the entire winter season!

Lexi’s show debut is this week.  She and Muffy will be strutting their stuff in Sioux Falls, SD.  The girls and I leave early Thursday on the 7 hour drive.  We will return late Sunday.  This week has definitely gone to the dogs!  However, my Paper Players card is done and my Sunday post is ready.  Muffy and Lexi will be ready to update you on how they did during one of  next week’s post!

As always, your comments are important to me.  Won’t you let me know what you think of my final Freshly Made Sketches card?  And of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
