It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, Jaydee is hosting a Theme Challenge: Wildlife! This gave me an opportunity to pull out my newest set, Walk in the Wild. This was a set which I wanted as soon as I saw it, but for some reason, I just kept moving it down the Wish List. It wasn’t until one of my Lesson of the Month students ordered it, that I decided that I needed it to fill a void. It is an awesome masculine set, or for anyone who loves wildlife. I hope you enjoy today’s masculine card.
The Stampin’ Schach’s Design Tips: Masculine
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.
- Hokey smoke, Bullwinkle! The Moose from Walk in the Wild was lightly tinted using inks and Blender Pens. A little Always Artichoke accents the foliage, while Soft Suede adds just a tinge of color to this majestic moose. Of course, no faux watercoloring is complete without shadowing in Soft Sky.
- Textile texture! Burlap Ribbon adds a touch of texture. I trimmed off the stitched sides, and unraveled a couple of strands for more interest.
- Barn board and pearls! Three single Pearls, smooth and delightfully feminine, add contrast to the Naturals Ivory Woodgrain embossed panel. Pearls are totally unexpected on a masculine card, but I love the touch of unexpected, don’t you!
The men in my house expect pearls on their cards. They know that I love adding pearls to almost every card I make. In researching the symbolism behind pearls, I discovered that my first name, Margaret, is derived from the Latin word, Margarita, which in turn comes from the Greek word which means…can you guess? Do I even need to say it? Yep…”Pearl”! How cool is that!
As always, your comments are important to me. Won’t you please let me know what you think of today’s card? And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…
