Warmth and Wonder for The Paper Players

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the talented Anne Marie is hosting a beautiful color challenge:  Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, Raspberry Ripple.  On this cold, Iowa day, I opted to pull out the Warmth and Wonder Hostess Set. I am in love with the Tree and Deer images, which is why this set was a must-have for me. I hope you enjoy today’s card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  •  A snowflake backdrop! The largest Festive Flurry Framelit forms a wonderful base for our image oval, especially when created from the Raspberry Ripple pattern from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Collection.  A few Basic Pearls accent the details of the shape.
  • Tree-mendous! The Tree image can be used to create clean, modern cards as well as country style cards, and every style  in-between.  I can’t wait to create more cards with it!  I am thinking a country beauty is in my future!
  •  Illuminate! In real life, Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Ink adds a beautiful shimmer to the Glorious Grunge speckles. They are absolutely awesome!

I hope that all of you are staying safe, warm, and healthy.  With temperatures in the single digits, the Twins and Lexi have not wanted to play outside.  You can imagine three bouncing Boxers playing in my small living room. They throw their toys with the force of a major league pitcher.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  It took me all day to create it, but not because it is time-consuming.  YouTube drew me into its inner sanctum.  It started innocently enough…and I can blame it on those ornery Boxers.  They LOVE the song, “What Does the Fox Say”.  It has to be the silly cacophony of sounds, coupled with the fact I sing it with their names in place of the animals. I played the video for them.

Before you knew it, I was strolling down memory lane…or rather singing my way down memory lane.  I have such varied musical tastes.  I haven’t met a style of music I didn’t like.  I belted out the classics from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond, while my captive canine audience listened. I was busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin’ for a train. I poured some sugar on me, and then I felt it was time for a cool change.  I changed the lyrics of  Shooting Star to Rising Star, adding all sorts of Stampin’ Up! references.  I partied at the Love Shack.  I carried on like a wayward son until I was running on empty.  I was working 9 to 5, taking care of business.  Of course, in the spirit of the season, I had to croon White Christmas along with Bing. Then I had to listen to Bing and David Bowie sing The Little Drummer Boy.  Then I had to listen to Pentatonix sing their version.  One song led to another.  Yep…by the time I was done, my imaginary microphone and I had frittered away the afternoon.  But really, it wasn’t a waste.  It certainly didn’t take me long to finish this card once I started.  The creative juices were flowing.

So in ending, I do hope you enjoyed today’s card.  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  And never forget that if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
