Cheers for Pals Paper Arts

It’s Thursday, and time to play with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts.  This week we have a fun and versatile sketch for you designed by Nicole Watt.  Perfect for toasting in the New Year, this card features Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog and the Happy Hour stamp set.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips: Fun and Sparkly
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Punched and layered! The Artisan Label Punch was used twice:  once on Whisper White Core’dinations Card Stock, and once on Silver Glimmer Paper. The silver label was cut in two, and layered behind the Whisper White one. And where did the “cheers” come from? The “3 cheers for you!” sentiment from the Happy Hour set was selectively inked.
  • Sparkle plenty!  A Silver Glimmer Paper border adds the perfect New Year’s “glitz and glam” to the Decorative Dots embossed panel.  This Textured Impressions Embossing Folder will be available during Sale-A-Bration!

  • A toast! The glasses were stamped using Jet Black StazOn, and snipped out.  They were stamped again in Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, and Rich Razzleberry, and the “liquid” snipped and paper pieced.  A single rhinestone adorns each glass.

Kaleidoscope is such a fun Designer Series Paper.  I love the color palette that is used in the patterns. What do you think of it?  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment?  And remember, I am always here to answer any questions that you may have about the cards I create, and the techniques I use. Until next time…

So Very Grateful

I am so honored to be Mary Fish’s Guest Stamper at Stampin’ Pretty today.  As part of Mary’s “Stampin’ with the Stars Week”,  she wanted us to preview new items from the Occasions Catalog, which goes live January 3rd.

As you know, the Occasions Catalog celebrates spring.  But on this Christmas Day, I wanted to share with you a Christmas card.  So I let my heart take over.  Distressed images, water coloring, and pearls were used to create a card reminiscent of a Victorian post card from the fresh floral set, So Very Grateful. And when your heart guides your hands, all things are possible…

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:  Victorian…the Stampin’ Up! Way
This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ long.

  • Colors! Cherry Cobbler, Brushed Gold, and Always Artichoke, paired with Very Vanilla are my Stampin’ Up! choices for a Victorian color scheme.  Of course, a few speckles to simulate aging and  delicate scallops, courtesy of the soon-to-be released Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, add to the Victorian vibe.
  • Snips! My mother had a Victorian scrapbook filled with ornate paper-snipped flowers. Although the floral images from So Very Grateful are not the easiest to snip, they are beautiful when water-colored and snipped out.  I did stamp, snip, and color the larger image twice, in order to “pop-up” some of the blossoms.  Of course, I had to add a few pearls.

  • Banner! The Christmas Greetings sentiment from the Beautiful Season set, had the perfect font for the look I was trying to achieve.  A double curl at one end is achieved by breaking down the paper fibers and separating the layers.  Layering leaves over the top adds interest.

And there you have it.  A different look from a spring floral set…lovingly created for you on this Christmas day.  What do you think of today’s card?  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me, and I thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to leave one.  As always, if you have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
