Hardwood and Stippled Blossoms for The Paper Players

Merci! Danke! Gracias! Thanks! The Paper Players are hosting a “Thankful for Spring!” challenge featuring “Thank You” cards.  After this latest round of snow and cold temperatures, I truly am thankful that spring is just around the corner! I reached for one of my all-time favorite floral sets, Stippled Blossoms, and prepared for some quality time with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I hope you enjoy viewing today’s card as much as I enjoyed creating it.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • They go together! Stippled Blossoms and the Stamp-a-ma-jig “go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong”.  On today’s card, I used Soft Sky and Marina Mist for the larger flowers, Primrose Petals (stamped off, then not stamped off) for the smaller blossoms, and Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke for the leaves.  Of course, I just had to add Pearl centers to a flower or two!
  • A banner thanks! The “Thank You” sentiment from Peaceful Petals was inked with Smoky Slate ink and cut out with the smallest Banner Framelit.  With it’s smaller size, it nestles nicely among the petals, while its color coordinates with Smoky Slate Hardwood background.
  • Texture! The debossed side of the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder provides a wonderful contrast to the Hardwood background.

I love the look of the Stippled Blossom images with the Hardwood background.  It’s a little surprising, and it is one of those happy mistakes that happen every once in awhile.  The Hardwood piece was abandoned from my first attempt at last week’s Pals Paper Arts card.  It was still laying on the counter when I picked it up on a whim. I’m glad I did.  What do you think of this pairing? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are important to me.  Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
