Hello, Sailor for Pals Paper Arts—A Nautical, Masculine Card

When I first saw this week’s Pals Paper Art sketch,  it seemed so fresh and fun.  And a fun sketch calls for a fun stamp set, don’t you think? That’s why I reached for Hello, Sailor.  I hope you enjoy today’s nautical, masculine card.

The Stampin’ Schach’s Design Tips: Fun and Masculine
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Making waves!  Pacific Point waves were created with the Large Scallop Edgelits.  What a perfect accent for a nautical-themed card! Plus, the Ship’s Wheel pattern from the High Tide Designer Series Paper collection is too cute!
  • In the round! To add interest, the Pacific Point Best Mate sentiment was punched out using Circles Framelits, and then adhered to the rectangular element. The Ship’s Wheel pattern from the High Tide Designer Series Paper collection is too cute!

  • Colorific! Calypso Coral droplets and Pacific Point stripes add a splash of color against a Hardwood background of Smoky Slate.

Today’s card will be given to my husband, for making it possible for me to attend Brady’s graduate trumpet recital in a few weeks.  Kim will be traveling to New Lenox, IL and Crown Point, IN with Lexi and I for the Midwest Boxer Club Specialty and Steel City Kennel Club dog shows.  We will then drive the 6-1/2 hour trip to Columbia, Missouri to watch Brady.

I was in tears when I found out about the conflict between the dog shows and the recital.  There was no way I was going to miss out on Brady’s performance, but I had already paid entry fees, handling fees, reserved the room, booked the Twins a spot at the “Doggy Spa” and made arrangements for Lexi and I to get to the four shows in New Lenox and Crown Point before I learned about the conflict.  I was going to cancel everything, but Kim came to my rescue! He is taking vacation time, and will join us at the shows, providing the needed ride to the University of Missouri! Woo hoo!

What did you think of today’s card? I think my favorite part is the strip of waves. What about you? Won’t you let me know in today’s comment.  And remember, if you ever have any questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

Monochromatic By the Seashore with The Paper Players

I love the sea and beaches.  It doesn’t make any difference whether they are rocky or sandy, I love them all.  Unfortunately for me, I live in Iowa.  I am on the Mississippi River, but that just is not the same.  So, it’s no wonder that I have By the Seashore and By the Tide in my collection of stamps.  I inked up both to create today’s card for The Paper Players challenge…a sketch challenge hosted by the talented Sandy! I hope you enjoy today’s monochromatic Crumb Cake with gold-embossed edges card.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measure 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • Gilded edges!  After heat embossing the images from By the Seashore with Early Espresso embossing powder, they were snipped out.  VersaMark ink was applied to the edges, which were then embossed with gold for a touch of glitz.
  • White sand! The retired Texture stampin’ wheel was inked with VersaMark, and then heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The result mimics a white sand beach.
  • Pearls!  What better jewel to embellish sea shells and starfish than pearls…the gem of the ocean!  Don’t you just love this little pearled pentaradial rascal?

There you have it…a monochromatic card rich with texture, glitz and glam.  The gold and pearls contrast nicely with the Crumb Cake, and add an unexpected touch of elegance, don’t you think?  Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  And speaking of beaches, you might notice a little addition at the top of my left side-bar.  I am pleased to announce, that because of my wonderful customers and fabulous downline, I have earned Stampin’ Up!’s Hawaii Grand Vacation for 2015.  Thank you so much for making my dream vacation a reality.  Is anyone available to Boxer-sit those days?  Until next time…
