Those of you who follow my blog know how heartbroken I was when Muffy failed to earn her Grand Champion title a few weeks ago at Kalamazoo. At that point in time, she was being retired, and would be pursuing motherhood. (You can read the post HERE.) This post included the statement:
“She is entered in one more series of shows the first weekend in December, but whether she gets to show in them is up to Mother Nature. My guess is that she will be carrying her first litter of puppies by then.”
Well, Muffy is not carrying her first litter…yet. So yesterday we packed our bags, loaded up the SUV and headed to Wheaton, IL for the start of four days of shows.
Some may call it fate. Some may call it luck. Some may even call it a miracle. I just call it “the best Christmas present ever”. As of this morning, Muffy is now Grand Champion Cimarron’s Do You Know the Muffin Man. Muffy was declared Best of Opposite Sex by esteemed judge, Mrs. Patricia V. Trotter.
Who knows why Muffy and I were given this chance to go out one more time? Maybe someday I will know. But for now, this leg of her life’s journey has truly come to an end. She ended her show career with a treasured win, bestowed upon her by a prestigious judge. My husband was there to see her last time in the ring, as were several of the people who watched her “strut her stuff” for the first time.
