It’s time for another challenge from Pals Paper Arts! This week we have a color challenge featuring Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Soft Sky. Because I am so in love with the new Butterfly Basics stamp set from the Occasions Catalog, I pulled it out to create this soft and serene card. I hope you enjoy it.
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- Butterfly and bokeh! The Lacy Butterfly image from Butterfly Basics was stamped in Island Indigo onto the Soft Sky paper from the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper collection. I then used a Sponge Dauber to add circles of Island Indigo and Pool Party all around the butterfly, replicating the bokeh technique. The effect is soft and serene. An Island Indigo Butterfly was inked and punched out with the Butterflies Thinlits, and adhered atop the original image. A few pearls accent the lacy wings.
- A banner sentiment! “There is nothing in the caterpillar…” is a beautiful quote from Buckminster Fuller. For this card, it was inked in Night of Navy and stamped onto the Soft Sky paper from Painted Blooms. A Banner Framelit was used to create the banner.
- Layered blossoms! The Flower image was stamped onto the paper that protected the cover of the Occasions Catalog. I needed paper with s subtle hint of green for the leaves and stem, and this paper coordinated well with the Pool Party fern which had been stamped onto the background. I snipped out the entire image. Next, the image was stamped a second time onto the Soft Sky designer paper, and the petals were snipped out. The petals were adhered into position on the first image. The entire thing was popped up onto the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
It is certainly not butterfly weather here in SE Iowa. In fact, it’s going to be a three dog night this evening. As I am writing up this post Wednesday afternoon, it’s zero degrees with a wind chill of -19. Tonight’s air temperature is predicted to be -13. On nights like tonight with a drafty two story house, three snuggling Boxers will be a blessing!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. As I mentioned earlier, this is one of my favorite sets from the Occasions Catalog. How about you? Have you picked out a favorite set yet? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? If I have it, I just might design a card with it. And remember, if you have a question about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
