It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week we have a Clean and Simple challenge for you, hosted by the incredibly talented LeAnne: We want to see sentiments as the focus on your cards! Designer Series Paper and other embellishments are welcome, but remember it IS a clean and simple challenge. Layers and “doodads” should be kept to a mimum. Now, that is quite a tall order for me, but I tried my best. I hope you enjoy my attempt at Clean and Simple!
The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.
- Rays of Sunshine! The rays were created in minutes using the template found in the Hooray It’s Your Day Project Kit. I temporarily adhered the template to Whisper White cardstock, and sponged it with Crushed Curry ink. How easy is that? (Tip: Create your own temporary adhesive with the Two Way Glue Pen! The bond is temporary if you let the glue dry first.)
- Focus on the sentiment! What better sentiment to go with the sun theme than “Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves”! This sentiment from Feel Goods was inked in Night of Navy and stamped directly onto the rays.
- Paper bow! A Night of Navy paper bow, created with the fabulous Bow Builder Punch, adds just the right bit of pizzazz!
This card is earmarked for a very special blog follower and fellow Boxer lover, who certainly brought sunshine into my life, and into Muffy’s and Brody’s lives, too. Like many of you, Gena often emails me to chat about the Boxers. During the bitterly cold weather we had recently, I mentioned Brody had gained weight, and his winter coat no longer fit. I also mentioned that Muffy’s coat was now too tight, since she has matured, but it fits Lexi fine. Gena emailed me back, and innocently asked questions about their sizes. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I got the mail Thursday. There was a box from Gena. And lo and behold, inside were two winter coats she had made…one for Brody and one for Muffy! I haven’t been able to take a picture of them on the kids yet, but I will in the near future. Here they are:

Aren’t they awesome? Brody loves to wear “clothes” and he LOVES his new coat. In fact, after I took it off and placed it on the island, he sat at whined until I put it on him again. And Miss Muffin looks very chic in her pink with brown polka dots! Thank you so much, Gena! You certainly brought sunshine into our lives!
I had fun with today’s card and today’s challenge. It was the first time I had ever used a stencil to create a design, and it was so quick and easy. I am probably one of the last stampers on earth to use a stencil. Now I can’t wait to try it again using the Artisan Embellishment rose stencil. How about you? Do you use stencils? Won’t you let me know in your comment today? Your comments are very important to me, and I do read each one. Of course, if you ever have questions about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…
