The Stamp Review Crew: Sheltering Tree Edition

SRC-Sheltering-Tree-bannerIt’s time for another round of inspiration from The Stamp Review Crew. If this is your very first visit, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first and third Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set. The result is you see the versatility of the set and the amazing things you can create with it. This week we are featuring Sheltering Tree. I am Stop #5 on the hop. You may have just left Stop #4: the talented Deb Currier. Her work is always fabulous. As for me…I designed two cards for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy today’s hop!

Card #1:  Spring

IMG_0509-001The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

  • Beautiful blossoms!  The Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla blossoms were created using the smallest flower die from the Flower Fair Framelits collection.  The edges were snipped, after which a roller stylus was used to create the cup shape.  Pearls were added to the center of each.  The yellow pearls were colored with Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.

  • Fallen petals! A few blossoms were snipped apart and strewn across the grass.  Wild Wasabi was the perfect soft green to use.  The “Spring” sentiment is from the Project Life Day to Day stamp set.

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips:
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

  • The Midas touch! How rich and regal is this! The image was embossed in gold onto Brushed Gold cardstock and then matted onto Gold Foil.
  • Ice! Bits of icy sparkle were added to the limbs with Dazzling Details.  The result is beautiful in real life.

Ack! As always, I had trouble photographing gold embossing and Brushed Gold cardstock.  It is gorgeous in person.  Although it is only March 1st, I may have found this year’s holiday card.  It’s quick and easy…and oh, so pretty!  I hope you enjoyed my two contributions to this hop.  Won’t you let me know in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Now hop along to Stop #6, Rochelle Blok.  Her work never ceases to amaze me. And if you get lost along the way, you can find a list of all the hoppers at The Stamp Review Crew.  Until next time…

Dreaming of Spring for The Paper Players

IMG_1663-002It’s Sunday…and time to play with The Paper Players!  This week Laurie is hosting a theme challenge…Think Spring! When I think of spring, I think of butterflies and blossoms.  I selected a gorgeous pattern from the Painted Blooms Designer Paper collection, grabbed my two butterfly punches and got to work.  Because I think of spring as fresh, new beginning after a dark and dreary winter, I wanted to make sure my card had lots of white space.  Enjoy!pp234The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • A bloomin’ banner!  Beautiful paper makes a beautiful banner, don’t you think? I made sure to center one of the flowers in the middle of the banner, and added a double Blackberry Bliss bow.

Painted Blooms-002

  • Bloomin’ bling! Pearls, tinted with a Dark Wisteria Wonder Blendability, accent the centers of the smaller blossoms, while a sequin adorns the center of the larger bloom.  Of course, I just had to add pearls to the butterfly!

Painted Blooms-003

  • Dreaming of spring!  “Dream” seemed like the perfect sentiment for this card.  With the subzero wind chills and record low temps we have been experiencing here in SE Iowa, I can only dream of warmer days!  This adorable little sentiment is from the Think Happy stamp set.

Painted Blooms-005

Today’s card was a simple card, but I felt it captured what I think of when I “think spring”.  I am curious to learn what YOU think of when YOU think spring.  Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and everyone of them.  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…

For the New Two for Pals Paper Arts

IMG_1605It’s Thursday, and as we all know…it’s time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week we are treated to a  sketch designed by Nicole Watt.  Chock full of lovely layers, this sketch is just my cup of tea! Enjoy today’s elegant and easy wedding card.PPA241nmwThe Stampin’ Schach Design Tip:  Elegant and Easy
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ long.

  • “Texturiffic”!  Nothing beats a layer of lovely texture, unless it is TWO lovely layers.  The Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder does the honors on this card.

IMG_1597-003

  • Pearlicious!  The blossoms in the wedding bouquet image were quickly colored using Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers.  A few pearls were added as the perfect, elegant, accent.  I know it may be hard to believe, but I decided to remove a few pearls, and I like the cleaner look.  (Gasp! Can you believe I just said that?)

  • Sentimental!  I always hold my breath when I stamp a sentiment directly onto the card.  How about you?  But with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I was able to stamp this sentiment in Soft Suede perfectly…right where I wanted it!IMG_1605-002

Originally, I was going to use a Whisper White card base with white mats and design a white-on-white card.   But I decided a touch of neutral color was needed, and pulled out the Sahara Sand cardstock. I was pleased with the final result.  Now I just need a wedding!

Depositphotos_6435001_xsSo…what do you think of today’s card? Do you like it better with fewer pearls?  And how about stamping the sentiment directly onto the card…am I the only one who holds my breath doing this? (That’s why I use so many banner sentiments!) Won’t you let me know the answers to these questions in today’s comment? Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and everyone! And remember, if you ever have a question about the cards I create or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time…
