Picture Perfect for Pals Paper Arts and Kia Kuteness

IMG_5720

It’s time for another sketch from Pals Paper Arts!  This week, team member Amy Lazzell provided us with this lovely sketch.  I LOVE square cards.  Since sketches that feature focal circles like this make me reach for flowers, I pulled out the Picture Perfect stamp set and inked it up for the first time.  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

This finished card measure 5-1/4″ square when folded.

Triple Step Stamping is a breeze with photopolymer stamps.  For these gorgeous flowers, I used Cherry Cobbler ink.  For the more detailed image (designated #3 in the set) , I used Cherry Cobbler full strength.  Image #2 was stamped off once, while image #1 was stamped off twice.  I actually stamped them in that order…darkest to lightest.  Of course, you know me and pearls. I could not resist adding a few to the middle of each flower.  The leaves were stamped in Old Olive, following the same stamping off protocol.

The Bird was stamped in Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler.  A pearl graces his eye. To make it appear as if he is hovering above the flowers, he is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Originally I was not going to add a sentiment to this card, but as I was creating it, and as it took on “it’s life”, I thought this would be the perfect card to give to Jackie’s handler, Amy.  Over the years, through her handling of Muffy, Lexi and the Mini-Muffins, Amy has become a trusted friend.  She loves my babies as if they were her own.  Upon many occasions, I have placed their lives in her capable hands.  At sometime over the years, she has become more than just a professional acquaintance.  She has become a daughter, a sister, a niece as well as a trusted friend.  Truly our hearts decide who is family…

Little “KiKi”  has been away from the show scene while we are waiting for her to mature.  But that doesn’t mean she has not been honing her show dog skills.  What better way to learn how the big dogs do it than by watching the Westminster Dog Show.  I snapped a few picture of her with my phone Tuesday night while I was in the basement working.  (Please excuse the mess…I have tons of things boxed up to send because of my retired stamp sale.)

First, she starts out standing right in front of the TV.  She was watching the Sporting Group.

Of course, a little girl gets tired standing for so long.  So she reverted to sitting and watching.

IMG_5727And finally she ends up lying down, but still glued to the show.

IMG_5728Of course, once in awhile, one just has to get a closer look.  The Neapolitan Mastiff required closer examination. Just look at her head tilt, as she tries to figure out what the heck kind of dog this is.

IMG_5730IMG_5731She is really watching his down and back.  How does he look, Kia?

Jackie, on the other hand, was content to rest his head on Uncle Brody, and dream about being at Westminster some day…

Jackie and I are on the road this weekend, heading to Des Moines.  Our goal is to have fun, although Jackie LOVES shopping for new toys.  And this scamp usually charms the vendors into freebies.  What a scam artist! But who can resist this face:

Retired Items, Weekly Deals and a Muffy Update

Lots of Stuff words in illustrated 3d letters surrounded by piles and stacks of cardboard boxes in a disorganized mess

Yep…that’s me.  I have lots of retired stuff.  I accumulated all that stuff because I did not sell stamp sets and paper and ink and Big Shot items and ribbon and embellishments and tools and so on and so forth when they retired.  I have tons of sets, many of which were never used.   I would see an adorable card someone created and I just HAD to buy the set to make it.  You know what I mean.  But life would get in the way, the set would never be inked up, and the card was never made.  It’s embarrassing in a way.  But I have to clear these things out.  So  I would love to have my stuff become your stuff.

I have consolidated all of the retired items I currently have for sale into one easy document.  Here is the link:

Muffy Update

I would like to thank all of you for your emails asking about Muffy’s progress.  I am happy to report she is doing fine! In just a few more days she will be cleared to go up and down stairs…and in 6 more days, she will be allowed to run, jump and play.  Brody visited with her yesterday, while Lexi snuggled up with her on this cold, gray Iowa day.

Muffy was thrilled to have a little canine companionship.   However, the rambunctious Mini-Muffins, Jack and Kia, are still isolated from their mom.  We just can’t risk having them jump on her.  Plus, I am still sleeping on the floor with her…and you can believe I am counting down the days until she can jump up into our bed.

As always, if you have any questions about Stampin’ Up!, the cards I create and the techniques I use, I am only an email away. Until next time…

Muffy News and Retired SU! Stamps For Sale

Muffy After Being Spayed

There will be no more Mini-Muffins.  After searching my heart,  I made the decision to spay her.  She had surgery Tuesday morning.  In addition, two small growths were removed from two of her “niblets”.  I was able to bring her home Wednesday afternoon.

Muffy with Litter

Muffy was a wonderful mother, who put everything she had into raising a litter of six happy and healthy puppies.  But motherhood took it’s toll on her body.  She just never seemed to bounce back completely after delivery, which included an emergency C-section.  After seeing her black muzzle turn silver in a matter of weeks, I made the decision to never raise a second litter from her.   Muffy did her job the first time, presenting me with a beautiful son, Jack, who will hopefully leave his mark in the show ring.   In addition, Kia, Kelsi (Bunny), Kenzie (Kash), Macy (Mira) and Odin (Chunkers) are making their own history as loving companions.  Kia and Kelsi are show dogs, Kenzie and Odin are performance dogs, and Macy is living the life of a Diva in a Chicago high-rise.  Each have a special place in my heart.

Since Muffy cannot go up and down stairs yet or be with her pack mates, I have been staying with her in the kitchen.  We’ve baked dog treats.  We’ve watched movies on the laptop.  We’ve read books and magazines.  And at night, I spread a blanket out on the hard wooden floor to sleep beside her, while she sleeps on a stack of three dog beds.  But it is the least I can do for this girl who has filled my heart with so much joy since the first day she entered my life.
