Star of Light for Pals Paper Arts

img_0198It’s Thursday, and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week’s sketch is courtesy of the talented Dawn Tidd.  What a versatile sketch it is! I thought it would be perfect for showcasing the Star of Light stamp set with its coordinating Starlight Thinlits Dies.  It just so happened that one of my clubs had requested that I design a purple and gray Christmas card.  Since one of the members LOVES bling, I pulled out Silver Foil, Sweet Sugarplum ink, and Sweet Sugarplum and Silver Glitter Ribbons and went to work! Needless to say, this card was a big hit in class.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long when folded.

  • Oh my stars! Silver Foil, Sweet Sugarplum, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper stars were created using Starlight thinlits. What a stunning focal point they make!  They were oh so easy to make, especially since I used the Precision Base Plate and the Die Brush.

  • Swirls of Sweet Sugarplum stardust! The Swirl image was inked with Sweet SugarplumRhinestones add a touch of sparkle and magic…

  • Tail of a comet! A folded snippet of Silver Glitter ribbon and three Rhinestones add even more sparkle and shine! Glue dots hold everything in place.

I was fortunate to have a helper with today’s card.  Little Kia parked herself in her favorite chair and supervised my every move.  She is such a delight! And who can resist this sweet face?

Kia and I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  It’s really quick and easy to create.  I can envision it in several different color combinations.  I think traditional holiday colors combined with this sketch and Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous designer series papers would result in a very classic card.  It just so happens that the “Buy 3 – Get 1 Free” Designer Series Paper Promotion will be going on the entire month of October.   Maybe I will give traditional colors a shot when Jackie and I return from showing this upcoming weekend!  We are one win away from his Champion title, so wish us luck!  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

Wrapped in Warmth for Pals Paper Arts

img_3301-001

It’s Thursday, and time to play with the Sketch Team at Pals Paper Arts! The cooler temperatures these days are definitely turning my thoughts to the impending winter and the holiday season.   Beth Beard’s sketch seemed a perfect fit for the Wrapped in Warmth stamp set and Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack.   I can definitely see myself creating a few more of these cards to drop in the mail this December!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ when folded.

Selective inking adds a custom look to this sweet sentiment.  Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Markers were my colors of choice.  A small Gold Metallic Enamel circle adds a touch of sparkle.

Keeping with the touches of gold elegance, two Gold Foil Christmas trees were cut using the Perfect Pines Framelits.  I love the look of gold against the Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black plaid designer paper.

To soften the look of the Basic Black card stock banner, a loop of Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine was added.

The new Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates a very deep embossed impression, which was just perfect for this card.  I truly love all the texture it imparts.  This is a great sketch, and I had so many ideas on how to use it.  I can’t wait to create more cards with it!

Resting Up

Jackie had a very good weekend in Wilmot, Wisconsin recently.  Although he did not earn his champion title, he was “invited to the dance” as we say.  He won his huge class both days, and showed like a rock star.  We are taking the next two weekends off, after which we will head to Freeport, IL.  He is such a goofy boy.  Not a day goes by that he doesn’t bring a smile to my face!

Elegant Paisleys & Posies

IMG_7713-001

It’s Thursday, and we all know what that means! It’s time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week our sketch is courtesy of the oh-so-sweet, Patti MacLeith!  Patti has such a flair for clean and classy, and I really wanted to do her sketch proud.  I inked up the new Paisleys & Posies stamp set and pulled out the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Paper.  Both are from the Holiday Catalog which is live TODAY!!!  Although this card looks complicated, it’s as easy as 1-2-3! Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This folded card measures 5-1/2″ by 4-1/4″.

Elegance has never been easier! It’s all about the designer paper in this case.  The Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Paper collection features a beautiful floral motif in copper foil embossing against a Night of Navy background.  A few strategically placed pearls completes the look.  How easy is this!

IMG_3298-003

In keeping with the metallic copper color scheme, the sentiment was inked in VersaMark and heat embossed with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

IMG_3298-001

Copper foil accents were created using the Paisley Framelits Dies.  Of course, I just had to add a few more pearls!

IMG_3298-002I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  It really is a simple card to make.  Yes, you have to get out the heat tool, but the embossed sentiment is definitely worth it.  I know that when I put in my order today, I am going to have to order more Copper Foil.  It is gorgeous!

After a month away from the ring, Jackie is heading out on the show circuit again.  We have shows scheduled the next two months until Jackie receives his champion title.  We are just one win away! Keep your fingers crossed that he gets that final win sooner than later.  Here he is catching up on his beauty sleep! What a character!
