Hey Chick for Freshly Made Sketches

img_1532-001The talented designers at Freshly Made Sketches have what I think is a very cute sketch this week.  I know I should be making holiday cards, but I really wanted to play with some of my new goodies from the upcoming Sale-a-bration Brochure.  This fun little set is called Hey, Chick.  I thought this goofy little chickie would be perfect to use with this sketch.  Although she will not be available until the brochure goes live January 4th, I still hope you will enjoy today’s card.  And I promise, I will be posting holiday cards for you very soon!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ tall when folded.

  • Easy peasy! I inked this crazy little gal in Basic Black Archival ink and stamped her three times.  I then punched out the images using the 1-1/2″, 1-3/8″, and 1-1/4″ punches.  Her feathers are a mix of Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie, while Smoky Slate was used to highlight her body.  Soft Sky adds a subtle shadow around her.  The image was inked a fourth time and stamped directly onto the card base.  She was colored the same way as before.
  • Speckles! One of my most often used stamps is the Speckles image from Gorgeous Grunge.  For this card, it was inked with Crushed Curry, and used to randomly stamp the lower part of the card. I repeated the process with Smoky Slate.  Of course, I masked off the chicken in the corner to prevent her from getting speckled in the process.
  • Hey, chick!  Every chick deserves a little bling, so I added a single Rhinestone to accent each chick.  I LOVE the way the rhinestones draw the eye right to the circles.

I had a blast creating this quick and easy, clean and simple card.  Since I have a few friends who would be perfect candidates for receiving this card, I  am sure I will be whipping out a couple more!

Merry Mice for The Paper Players

img_1437First, I would like to thank all of you for your kind condolences.  It lightened my heart during a trying time to know so many of you were thinking of me and my family.

I have found time to do a little stamping.  The Paper Players are having a Color Challenge (Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Real Red).   Since I used these colors on the Merry Mice card I created for Freshly Made Sketches last week, I thought it would a perfect time to create a companion card.  I hope you enjoy this quick and easy card.

This finished card measures 5-1/2″ wide by 4-1/4″ tall.

I just loved coloring this little fella from Merry Mice.  I dressed him in a Mint Macaron sweater and Real Red pants, using Blender Pens and inks. The mouse himself is Smoky Slate with Blushing Bride ears and nose.  I do like the bit of sparkle on his ornament, whiskers, and tail, thanks to Clear Wink of Stella.

Because this card is so simple, I added a double cheater bow, crafted from Cherry Cobbler and Emerald Envy Silky Taffeta Ribbon.  Talk about easy-peasy!

And just in case, this wasn’t enough texture, I used the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add even more. This folder is so classy and timeless.  I can’t wait to play with it again.

When I think back, this set was not on my initial order.  I had no desire to purchase it.  But the more I looked at it, the more it spoke to me.  Now I can’t wait to use the third stamp in the set to create a third card!
