A Fairy Farewell for Pals Paper Arts

img_0618

Change is inevitable.  It is an integral part of our lives from which we cannot escape.  Sometimes change enhances and renews our lives with freshness, like when the cold, dreary days of winter give way to spring.  Sometimes change hurts, like losing an old friend, one whose friendship was as comfortable as an old shoe.  And so it is with Pals Paper Arts.  Today marks the final PPA challenge.  Except for a few months last year, when I took a brief leave of absence, I have been a part of the talented PPA Design Team since the very beginning.  And yes, I feel as if I am losing an old friend. It is with sadness that I proclaim for one final time, “It’s Thursday, and time to play at PPA!”  I hope you enjoy today’s card.

Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust

In the famous words of Peter Pan, to create today’s card all you need is a little faith, trust, pixie dust, and Blender Pens. Well, maybe Peter didn’t mention Blender Pens, but they are an important part of the faux water coloring technique I used.

img_0627

Blender Pens and a variety of inks were used to color each of the three fairy images in the Fairy Celebration stamp set.  I used the fairy sitting on the toadstool as the focal image.  Pearls decorate her delicate wings, which were tinted with Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky.  She sits atop a Flirty Flamingo perch, holding onto a blossom colored with Soft Sky, So Saffron, and Peekaboo Peach inks.

Clear Wink of Stella adds a touch of sparkly fairy dust to her wings and flowers.

Our little Sugar Plum Fairy sports Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky wings.  Three Pearls adorn the waistline of her leafy skirt.

Once again, Wink of Stella adds a touch of fairy dust to the wings, skirt and plums.

img_0624Our little pixie-in-flight is complete with Pearls and Bitty Butterfly Punch wings.  In the second shot, you can see the Wink of Stella “fairy dust” on the hem of her Soft Sky dress.

img_0645I hope you enjoyed today’s card for the final PPA challenge.  For those of you who played along with us, your creations were always a delight, and I hope that in some way, we served to inspire you.  May you touch dragonflies and stars, dance with fairies, and in your creative travels, touch the moon.  As always, if you have any questions about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away.  I leave you with a Jackie the Boxer picture to brighten the day.  Until next time…

Halloween Scenes for Pals Paper Arts

img_0353

It’s Thursday, and time to play with the Sketch Team at Pals Paper Arts! This week’s sketch is courtesy of Susan Itell. Ever since purchasing the Spooky Fun Bundle, I’ve been itching to create a card using the Halloween Scenes Edgelits.  This sketch, with its circle, seemed like the perfect backdrop.  I hope you enjoy today’s card!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 5-1/4″ square when folded.

  • Setting the scene!  Soft Suede was used for the Fence, while Tip Top Taupe was accidentally selected for the Spooky Tree.  I actually thought I was reaching for Crumb Cake, but didn’t realize I had Taupe until after the tree was cut.  But you know what…I like it! As for the moon, So Saffron was my yellow of choice, edged with just a tinge of Pumpkin Pie ink.

  • Yipes, stripes! What I love about Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Papers is how well the patterns coordinate with each other.  These two small prints work perfectly together!

  • It’s all about the details! Halloween Enamel Dots and Black Metallic Thread add interest to the open space at the top of the card.

img_0353-003Exciting News

The past few weeks have been filled with lots of exciting news.  First, I promoted to Gold status with Stampin’ Up!, thanks to the promotion of my wonderful downline member, Beth McCullough.  You may know Beth from her Stamping Mom blog.   I also earned the Thailand incentive trip, and for that I have you, my customers to thank.  AND if that was not enough, the icing on the cake is that we have a new champion at our house.  I would like to introduce you to Champion Anscha-Happy Tail’s You Don’t Know Jack!  Jackie will begin his quest for his Grand Champion title in a few months.

100116-10Of course, there is never a dull moment here as we continue our whole house remodeling project.  Hopefully, the first and second stories will be completed, except for refinishing the floors, by the time the snow flies here in SE Iowa.  We’ll be tackling the basement next, followed by the garage in the spring.  Jackie has been a huge help with the painting, as you can tell from his Sherwin William’s Accessible Beige eyebrow!

Star of Light for Pals Paper Arts

img_0198It’s Thursday, and time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This week’s sketch is courtesy of the talented Dawn Tidd.  What a versatile sketch it is! I thought it would be perfect for showcasing the Star of Light stamp set with its coordinating Starlight Thinlits Dies.  It just so happened that one of my clubs had requested that I design a purple and gray Christmas card.  Since one of the members LOVES bling, I pulled out Silver Foil, Sweet Sugarplum ink, and Sweet Sugarplum and Silver Glitter Ribbons and went to work! Needless to say, this card was a big hit in class.  Enjoy!

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide x 5-1/2″ long when folded.

  • Oh my stars! Silver Foil, Sweet Sugarplum, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper stars were created using Starlight thinlits. What a stunning focal point they make!  They were oh so easy to make, especially since I used the Precision Base Plate and the Die Brush.

  • Swirls of Sweet Sugarplum stardust! The Swirl image was inked with Sweet SugarplumRhinestones add a touch of sparkle and magic…

  • Tail of a comet! A folded snippet of Silver Glitter ribbon and three Rhinestones add even more sparkle and shine! Glue dots hold everything in place.

I was fortunate to have a helper with today’s card.  Little Kia parked herself in her favorite chair and supervised my every move.  She is such a delight! And who can resist this sweet face?

img_0174

Kia and I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  It’s really quick and easy to create.  I can envision it in several different color combinations.  I think traditional holiday colors combined with this sketch and Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous designer series papers would result in a very classic card.  It just so happens that the “Buy 3 – Get 1 Free” Designer Series Paper Promotion will be going on the entire month of October.   Maybe I will give traditional colors a shot when Jackie and I return from showing this upcoming weekend!  We are one win away from his Champion title, so wish us luck!  Of course, if you ever have a question about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…
