An Any Occasion Friendship Card with Tutorial

Any Occasion Friendship CardI just love it when I can play along with my two favorite challenges using the same card! Sandy at The Paper Players is challenging us to “Cut It Out!” (dies, punches, fussy cutting, etc.), while Jen Mitchell at Freshly Made Sketches has a stunner of a sketch for us.  In fact, you’ll see me using this sketch again with my next card.  That’s how awesome this sketch is! I hope you enjoy today’s friendship card…with it’s step-by-step tutorial!

  5. Using the Fine Tip Glue Pen, glue the Basic Black die cut to a piece of Whisper White card stock. Trim around the outside.  Glue the Crushed Curry petals, Basic Black center, and Always Artichoke leaves and stem into position.
  6. “Pop up” the inlaid flower on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Embellish the center with a Metal Rimmed Pearl.

Friendship Card Created with the Daisy Timeless Tag

How easy is that! And this inlaid flower works perfectly with this sketch.  This card is easy to change up, too, simply by changing out the paper.  As for me, I challenged myself to use this fun paper with a somewhat masculine vibe just to see how it would look with a flower. I can always use friendship cards.  Nothing compares to receiving a surprise friendship card in the mail.

As always, if you have any questions about the cards I create, or the techniques I use, I am only an email away! Until next time…

The Stamp Review Crew: Lift Me Up

It’s time for another round of inspiration from The Stamp Review Crew. If this is your very first visit, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first and third Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set. This week it is one of my favorite sets from the Occasions Catalog, Lift Me Up.  I am Stop #11 on the hop. You may have just left Stop #10: Charlet Mallet.  Charlet’s work never disappoints!  After visiting me, you will continue to Stop #12 Linda Callahan.  Enjoy today’s hop!

Shabby chic Lift Me Up card

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips
This finished card measures 4-1/4″ wide by 5-1/2″ high when folded.

For today’s hop,  I opted to create a soft, shabby chic card in shades of Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake. I used the mini-sized “Swirly Cloud” image to distress everything, starting with the large balloon cut-out created with the Up & Away Thinlits.

Swirly Cloud stamp This little stamp is perfect for adding a touch of interest to anything.  Keeping true to my nature, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add pearls.

To create the sky, I inked up a large Acrylic Block with Soft Sky ink and stamped directly onto a Very Vanilla card stock panel.  I then randomly stamped all over using the Swirly Cloud image, first inked in Soft Sky, and then inked in Crumb Cake.

The smaller balloons were both stamped twice, once in Crumb Cake and once in Blushing Bride.  I then paper pieced each one.  Once again, I just had to add a few pearls.

As you can see, the smaller balloons were also distressed using the Swirly Cloud image. I love this little image!

As a finishing touch, I added an asymmetrical bow created with Blushing Bride ribbon.

If Blushing Bride shabby chic hot air balloons are not your cup of tea, here is the same layout using different colors and rhinestones, which I created earlier:
