Stamp Review Crew: Farmhouse Christmas

Farmhouse Christmas It’s time for the Stamp Review Crew: Farmhouse Christmas Edition! If this is your very first visit to one of our hops, the Stamp Review Crew is a group of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators whose mission is to do a blog hop on the first, third and fifth Mondays of each month. Our hops are unique because each of us features the same stamp set used in a variety of ways, giving you loads of inspiration for that set. The hops are archived at the Stamp Review Crew blog. You will be able to click through each hop at any time, going directly to the posts for that hop whenever you want.

This week we are featuring the Farmhouse Christmas set.  If you are following along in order, you have just arrived from the amazing Charlet Mallet. After visiting me, you will continue to the next stop, the talented Stesha Bloodhart. Be prepared to be inspired!

Farmhouse Christmas Holiday Card

Farmhouse Christmas

I love the warm, country feel I get from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set.  I think it pairs so perfectly with the tartan plaid Festive Farmhouse designer series paper.  I watercolored the house using Blender Pens and inks, and added a few special touches. I hope you like it!

Little touches add so much, don’t you think? On my house, I added Old Olive wreaths to the larger windows, and added a bit of sparkle by smoothing out Shimmery White Embossing Paste on the roof.  To up the sparkle factor, I also added snow, cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

Farmhouse Christmas

Bows were added to the fence, and Shimmery White Embossing Paste added a layer of frost to the tree.

Farmhouse Christmas

The focal panel and the house were popped up on dimensionals.  I brushed the limbs of the tree up from the card, to add even more depth.  Only the bottom of the fence is adhered, which leaves the top floating above the card base.  It is so adorable in person. This is the card I will be making for my neighbors, as it looks a wee bit like my own home. I hope you enjoyed it!

Easy and Elegant Thank You PP417

It’s Sunday, and time to play with The Paper Players! This week, the lovely Claire has a theme challenge for us: Give Thanks! How perfect for this time of year!

easy elegant thank youI love creating fall/Thanksgiving thank you cards.   For this one, I wanted to create something elegant, yet easy.  The result is indeed both of these things. I hope you enjoy today’s easy and elegant thank you card!

This is such a fun card to make.  Very Vanilla cardstock serves as the card base for this card.  Copper Foil is used as the matting layer, and of course it was used for the elegant die cut leaves which were created using the Detailed Leaves thinlits.  A little copper metallic thread serves as an accent, as does a double Merry Merlot & Copper reversible ribbon bow.

easy and elegant thank you

The sentiment is from the Falling For Leaves stamp set.  It was inked in Merry Merlot, and stamped onto Whisper White.  Layering Circles framelits were used to cut it out, and to die cut the Copper Foil scalloped circle.  As a little helpful hint, make certain no stray dog hairs are on the stamp as you ink it up, as it will cause a little line like we see here between the “t” and “h”.  (wink)

easy and elegant thank youThe real scene stealer on this card is the background texture.  I used Shimmery White embossing paste and the Brick pattern from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks collection to create it. It’s absolutely stunning in person, and so easy to do. Just make certain you allow it to dry completely before continuing with the rest of the card.

easy and elegant thank you

Easy and elegant!   Don’t you just love that textured background? I’ll be anxious to hear what you think, so don’t forget to leave a comment.  And don’t forget to visit the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration!

#FF0020 Thanksgiving and/or Thank You

thank you

It’s time for the Festive Friday Challenge, where every challenge is a party! For FF0020, we are celebrating Thanksgiving (Nov. 22) with a thank you card twist.  I opted to create a “thinking of you-thank you card”  in Fresh Fig and Blushing Bride.  We can’t wait to see what you create!

thank you

The Stampin’ Schach Design Tips

After playing with fall and holiday colors, I was looking for a change of palette.  Using a subdued Fresh Fig/Blackberry Bliss pattern from the Country Lane Designer Series Paper collection as my color inspiration, I paired it up with Blushing Bride.  Aha!  An escape from the oranges and browns of fall, and the reds and greens of Christmas!

The wonderful sentiment, from the Falling for Leaves stamp set, was inked in Blackberry Bliss and stamped onto Blushing Bride cardstock.  A round Stitched Shapes framelit was used to cut it out.

thank you

Blackberry Bliss leaves, from the Rooted in Nature set, were randomly stamped on a layer of vellum, while Blushing Bride ones were cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  A few Petal Pink Rhinestone gems add sparkle.
