Sweet Bugs

As we near the end of January, Old Man Winter is making his presence known, freezing the landscape with his frosty breath and raining down ice and snow over much of the nation. How about a few sweet bugs to take our minds off the weather woes? It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Sweet Bugs

This week, the fabulous Jaydee has a fun sketch for us. While my card features sweet bugs perched on postage stamp squares, the circles on the sketch can be any shape. I can’t wait to what YOU create. But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible Design Teammates, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

With paper this cute, and Sweet Bugs dies to fit the little bug-a-boo images, how could I not let the adorable Cute As A Bug designer series paper do all the work! Each of the critters was die cut out, and perched atop a layer of die cut shapes, namely a square, a postage stamp and a circle. The gingham card base, in shades of Poppy Parade and Petal pink, reminded me of a picnic tablecloth. Can’t you just see these little guys sharing your picnic crumbs on a warm spring day?

Hi, Stampers! It’s me, Nueve! It’s been really cold here at my house. Mom hasn’t let us play outside for what seems like years. She said we could get Frost bites if we were out too long so we had to be quick. When I went outside, I did not feel anything biting me. But I trust my mom, so I just ran outside, pottied and came right back in before the Frost could bite me. Because it was too cold to play outside, Mom moved all of the furniture to one side of the living room so we would have room to run and play. I’m glad she did, because I was just about ready to get a bad case of the zoomies. She threw the ball for us in the house so much we got tired. Sixxy even fell asleep with the ball in her mouf.

I fell asleep with my chew. It fell out of my mouf, but I was just too tired to care.

Later, I moved up to one of the beds so I could snuggle with my unicorns. Uncle Q had the other bed. He didn’t get to snuggle with any unicorns ’cause I took both of them. Mom said it looked like we were competing in a new Olympic sport, “Synchronized Dog Sleeping”.

Being good in the house on cold winter days and not getting the zoomies is just part of my job. I am a Working Dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!

  1. It’s a bugs life for sure this week Ann – what a cute collection! Love the background which is giving picnic blanket vibes too. I’ve been trying to resist that paper, but …

  2. Oh Ann, thank you for the big smile this week! These little bugs are the cutest and you made me long for lunch outside on a summer day. The gingham background is perfect! I love that they are all enjoying a different activity! This card will bring “joy” to someone. Nueve is the sweetest boy. I just love him! Stay warm and safe this weekend, My Friend!

  3. I could definitely envision a picnic scene with the cute bugs and the perfect gingham background! Such a cute design and a perfect sentiment. “Synchronized Sleeping” had me laughing, as did Sixxy with the ball in her mouth. I imagine never a dull moment at the Schach household!

  4. Have you ever seen the old Disney movie Summer Magic with Hayley Mills? Burl Ives is in it and he sings a song called The Ugly Bug Ball, and that’s what your card made me think of right off! Of course, your cute bugs are anything but ugly, they’re the only bugs from whom I would accept a picnic invitation, ha. Very fun take on the sketch. Y’all stay warm and toasty this week and don’t let the frost bite any of your toeses!

  5. Ann, thank you for reminding us that summer will be arriving – sometime! Your card just made me smile. Those little bugs are absolutely adorable and I love how they are all doing something different. The perfect finishing touch was the gingham paper. Love the spread joy sentiment, too. That photo of Neuve and the ball just made me laugh… what an absolutely adorable shot! Thanks for rocking my challenge this week

  6. cute card. Love this bundle but haven’t used it yet.

  7. The ball in the mouth photo is incredible. Your card is cute too.

  8. This is just the cutest card and definitely brought me joy! Love the dogs also! Stay warm!

  9. Nueve, being the good dog that you are, please make sure your mom and dad stay warm and dry during this huge storm. I’m glad to see you’re watching over Uncle Q and Sixxy too.

Maybe your mom will get a chance to make more of her adorable bug cards!

  10. That is absolutely adorable, filled with hope for better weather and picnics to come. I love the way they are stacked. I thought Hank and Roscoe were the only dogs to sleep in the same position, but I see they are not. Funny. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Hi Ann~ This is such a cute card. I was kinda drawing a blank
as to what to do with all these little bugs. Thank you for
    Inspiring me!
BTW, it’s always fun to read “Nueve’s Note” but this one
was beyond adorable with the pics of the “synchronized sleeping.” Thank you for including notes on them too.
    Stay warm!

  12. Very cute indeed! The DSP is like a picnic cloth – great choice. I like the way you’ve layered up the ants and bees because it not only focuses attention on them but it looks like they’re all sitting at their own tables. 🙂

  13. These bugs are just the cutest on the background paper—one of my favorites! The little squares are a perfect offset! I don’t blame the pups (or you) for wanting to stay inside! It’s still doing something outside here, and it’s BRRRR cold!

  14. What a fun card with those cute bugs. Love the red check background.
    Stay safe and warm

  15. Cute card, Ann! Although bugs give me the weebie-jeebies, these are kinda cute bugs. The red-checked tablecloth is the perfect back-drop.
The kids’ pictures are beyond adorable!! Love the synchronized sleeping. HA!
Thanks for sharing your card & the pictures!! Stay warm! It’s 83, windy & hot here in Florida. I’ll try to send some warmth your way.

  16. Love the bugs card! Adorable!

  17. Love the fun card. So colorful and playful.

Bernie gets the zoomies too much. I can take him for a mile or two walk and he gets inside and off he goes. The cold air must invigorate him. He doesn’t like just running out and coming right back in. He loves his walks. Synchronized snoozing indeed!

  18. Such a cute card.
Woke up with it being 13 deg. Yesterday already, ALL the schools are going to be closed here tomorrow.
