Blossoms In Blue and Nueve, Too

We’re baaaack! It’s time to play with The Paper Players as we start another year of fun and creative challenges. It’s the second Sunday of the month, which means it is time for a Color Challenge. What a beautiful trio of colors our host, the talented LeAnne, has for us: Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, Silver.

Blossoms in Blue

While I went for blossoms in blue with silver leaves, there are so many ways to use these colors. I can’t wait to see what YOU create. But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible Design Teammates, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some โ€œComment Loveโ€. It brightens our day!

Colors for PP768

I have always loved silver and blue together, so I was thrilled when I saw the colors LeAnne had selected for us this week. These two hues of blue look lovely together, and silver adds such an elegant touch. Of course, my mind turned immediately to blossoms of blue against beautiful leaves of silver. To find this gorgeous spray of leaves, I had to look no further than the Nature’s Symphony dies found in the January – April Mini Catalog. The blue blossoms were created using dies from the Pretty Florals collection, while the sentiment was created using the Wonderful Thoughts stamp set and dies, all from the Annual Catalog. If you look closely, you’ll see the background has just a whisper of texture, courtesy of the aptly named Whispers of Texture specialty designer paper. Don’t you just love it? Of course, no card is complete without a wee bit of bling. My sparkle of choice for this card are three Secret Sea Low Profile Sparkle Dots.

Hey, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! Christmas break is over and I am back in Obedience School. I love going to school. I get to see my good friends every week, and I get to work with my mom and show everybody what a good Working Dog I am. This week my teacher, Miss Carol, used me for a Demonstration Dog to show everyone what to do. It’s funny, because our people think they are teaching us dogs, but we dogs have known for centuries that it is really the dogs who are doing the teaching.

Nueve in class

This is me showing Miss Carol where she is supposed to stand. Her leg is lined up with my shoulder and front leg. I am looking up at her to make sure she is not looking down at me. She must not look down in competition, or else the judge will take off points. Miss Carol is doing a great job at looking straight ahead. My friend Charm is watching. She is Miss Carol’s owner. She has a brother who looks just like her. His name is Lucky. Miss Carol is really smart. I rewarded her by letting her give me REALLY good treats.

Next, I let my mom try it with me. She has a piece of cheese she is feeding me as her reward for doing it right. She did really good because her leg is right beside my front leg. She is a good learner. Good girl, Mom!

Next we work on “front”, where my person is supposed to stand right in front of me. Miss Carol is a little off, but she will get better with practice.

Next, my mom, tries it. Look at what a great job she did! She got to give me a BIG piece of cheese because she did so good. Letting our people give treats is usually the most effective way to reward your person during training. It makes them eager to learn. I also make certain to give my mom lots of praise and affection, too. Most people love cuddles. I will sit on my mom’s lap and I give her lots of Boxer kisses. Play is also a good reward, also. I let her play with my tug toy. I’ll put it in my mouth and shove it into her hand to get her to throw it. Yep! Training your person to be a good family member takes time and patience. But it’s just part of my job. I am a Working Dog. I am Good Boy Nueve!

  1. Ann, what a gorgeous way to showcase this set. Absolutely beautiful. And you know I love all that white space that allows those fabulous elements to shine. Oh and well done, Neuve being the “show-them-how-it’s-done” dog!!!
    hugs

  2. Ann, all the beautiful silver on your card is striking! The flowers are gorgeous, but that background paper is just amazing. It looks embossed! So much detail in this beauty and fantastic way to use the color combo. You sure were a great student for Nueve. He is such a beautiful boy!

  3. What a gorgeous card! I love that background paper (forgot I had some too!) and your floral combo is just fabulous! AND what a good teacher Nueve is–and what a good pupil you are as well!

  4. The card is very elegant, love it๐Ÿ’œ
    Oh Nueve you good boy๐Ÿ’œ
You are doing a great job training the human’s ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคฃ

  5. Joanne James - The Crafty Owl

Those blue flowers are stunning Ann and I think you might have finally convinced me I ‘need’ those leaves that I’ve had my eye on. Love that you highlighted the background paper too – I love the subtle design, I had no idea that’s what it looked like. A gorgeous card – and kudos for learning so quickly, Nueve is clearly a great teacher lol!

  6. So very pretty! Those Nature’s Symphony leaves are just magnificent – so glad I got this set! The blues and silver together are so elegant. Happy New Year.

  7. That floral die set definitely caught my eye when I saw it in the catalogue and you’ve shown just how gorgeous it is IRL! I wish there were true blue flowers but yours are a wonderful substitute, Ann! And the gentle texture in the background is perfect.

So glad Neuve’s training of you is going so well lol! Love seeing the photos. He’s such a sweetheart!

  8. Beautiful card, Ann! I love blues & silver as well! Your card is ‘simple elegance’ with the gorgeous flower taking centerstage! Sooo pretty!
Thanks for the close-up view of the Whispers of Texture! It’s been on my list.
I’m glad to hear that Nueve’s training of his people is going so well! He’s a smart little guy! Give him a kiss on the nose for Aunt Karen!

  9. Such a pretty card, Ann! I love making flowers in colors probably not found in nature, that’s one of the fun things about making art : ) Blue and silver is definitely a well-loved color combo in our Air Force family. And good job to Nueve teaching you how to behave! My Daphne girl is always telling me when it’s time for her to take me for a walk, or she’ll remind me in no uncertain terms when meal times are, ha!

  10. So fun reading Nueve’s story. He IS such a good dog; love him. Oh, and the card is beautiful with the great colors.

  11. I can’t see the whole card.

  12. I tried to size your card so I could see the whole card but it didn’t work. Is there any way you can make the whole card appear on the screen rather than showing the flowers only? From what I see this is a gorgeous card.
    Enjoy the doggie story.

  13. Nice card but Nueve’s story was so interesting. Brought back memories of when my dogs and I bonded in Obedience school. I had good teachers … although my Shih Tzu was much smaller than Nueve.

  14. Ann, I so enjoy your stories. Your card, as always, is beautiful.
    Happy Sunday.
