Special Delivery

December is making her presence known in SE Iowa. With a series of arctic blasts barreling in on top of the heavy snow we received last weekend, the recipe is perfect for staying in and crafting, and that is exactly what I plan to do. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

This week, the fabulous Jaydee is hosting our final challenge of the year. It’s Theme Week, and Jaydee has a timely one for us: Gifting! Of course, the dog lover in me knew immediately that I had to feature the North Pole Delivery specialty designer series paper. I can’t wait to see what YOU create.  But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my incredible Design Teammates, who work so hard to inspire you weekly, some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

What could be sweeter than a trio of critters bearing gifts and cards? When it comes down to delivering cuteness, the North Pole Delivery designer series paper does not disappoint. The stamping is minimal, layers abound, and the paper does all the work on today’s card. I used three of the specialty paper die cuts to form my focal point. A jolly Bernese Mountain dog carries presents on his back, while the Doxie and a “Hootie” Patootie come bearing cards. It is indeed a special delivery! And in case you are wondering where this card is heading, it is on the way to my son, daughter-in-law, and Kia the Boxer. Yep! They are dog lovers, too!

The Design Team would like to thank everyone who played along in our challenges in 2025. We are going to take the next few weeks off to enjoy the holiday season with our families and friends.  We look forward to seeing you on January 11th, 2026. The talented LeAnne will be hosting our first challenge of the year, a Color Challenge. Of course, all of us will continue posting to our individual blogs.

Hey, everybody! It’s me, Nueve! I’ve been working really hard getting ready to pass my Trick Dog test next Monday. Mom moved all of the furniture in the living room over to the side so I would have lots of room, and I wouldn’t have to go outdoors to practice. It’s super cold out, and my ears get cold. I have boots for my feet, so they stay warm. But, I can’t wear boots on my ears. That would be silly. Because I want to earn two Trick Dog Titles at once, I have to do 15 tricks. I am not sure how many 15 is, but I can tell by the way Mom talks, it’s a lot! I don’t have any pictures of me doing tricks, but Mom said she will take some this week, and maybe even some videos. All that practicing makes me very tired. Tired but happy. Happy because I get lots of treats!

Learning tricks to make people smile and laugh is just part of my job. I am a Working Dog! I am Good Boy Nueve!

Although The Paper Players are on break, I will be sharing holiday cheer with you over the next couple of weeks. From new product peeks to some of my favorite heirloom holiday recipes to hopefully some Trick Dog photos, I’ll be posting away. I’ll also include a little of my Zen wisdom along the way. Today’s tip: Don’t worry about things over which you have no control. Do your best and focus on the positive. As Sixxy says, “Let your worries melt away in the warmth of a cozy fire”!

  1. Ann, this is SOOOOO YOU!!!!! I love the little doggies and their friend Mr. Owl delivering gifts. I hope they stop by to visit me! The background papers are just perfect and this card will bring a smile to someone that receives it. I hope Nueve steals the show. He is a STAR in my eyes. Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas and I will look forward to seeing pictures of Nueve doing tricks. YOU are amazing, My Friend!

  2. Joanne James - The Crafty Owl

This card is so very you Ann – I’m not surprised this paper appealed! Those doggies are so cute – not as cute as sleepy Nueve though! Good luck with the Trick Dog trials – sounds like fun!

  3. Ann, this is such a delightful card! The doggos and owl are brilliant – I mean, who wouldn’t want that kind of special delivery? It’s just a sweet and beautiful card, and I’m sure you family will love it!

I hope Neuve did (does?) well on his Trick Dog Titles! Love the pics of both Neuve and Sixxy – both are so sweet. I’ll have to drop back by to see photo updates during the month!

  4. Ann, once again you made me smile. Those little furry friends delivering presents are absolutely precious. I am in love with the addition of the little owl! What a fabulous way to showcase this wonderful DSP. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
    hugs

  5. This card is absolutely cute💜 Nueve looks so handsome
All you girl’s have such good idea’s and glad you share them.
    Merry Christmas to all

  6. Adorable card. Love it
Nueve; I hope you done well at the trick dog test.
    Stay warm and stay safe.
No snow, but are having cold temperatures

  7. Praying for a beautiful, restful Christmas for you and your family.

  8. That is adorable! All the extras you do for a card are amazing! There are people on line who crochet/knit things to cover the ears : ) No snow here although we did have a thunder storm last night with some much needed rain. It’s 71 degrees here today at 5:30 AM. Thanks for sharing.

  9. This card makes me smile for so many resaons. Firstly, the lovely fresh colour combination of the Red with Pool Party. Secondly, the pets are cute and one even makes a bit of a homage to Harry Potter’s Hedwig. Finally, it’s the sentiment. On it’s own – great. But it echoes a current obsession of my toddler grandchild who takes great pleasure in putting any object inside any other object and giving it to you with great glee while exclaiming, ‘Special Delivery!’

  10. CUTE card Ann!
15 tricks??! are there that many? LOL
yeah i get the cold part ….. it’s cold and WET here ….. record amounts of rain on it’s way to the west side ….

  11. I thought about using that same DSP for my card this week, but you beat me to it so I chose something different : ) Those delivery doggos (and owl) are ridiculously cute!

One of my dog-loving friends moved from Arizona to the East Coast this year and her desert dog has freezing cold ears…she ordered a snood from Amazon but had limited success with it (it fit around her dog’s head fine but the doggo didn’t like it on her ears). Might be something to look into for Nueve, though, he might be less picky than Xochi.

  12. Pawsitively too cute! Bernie still does not wanting me to make cards or thinks he is helping by stealing my stuff and destroying. He loves the snow and is invigorated by it. Right now though he is napping. I personally am done with this snow. Good luck to Nueve.
