Happy Winter PP760

Just like every house should begin with a great foundation, every card should begin with a great sketch. Today’s Happy Winter card does just that. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

Happy Winter

This week, the amazing Joanne is hosting our sketch challenge. Can you say “versatile”? I stayed on the cleaner, simpler side. I know – what a change for me! I can’t wait to see what YOU create with Joanne’s awesome sketch.

I am a firm believer that just because a stamp set or a die retires, it doesn’t need to be turned out to pasture, so to speak. Sometimes retired products take on a fresh, new vibe when partnered with new products, just like with this card. The retired Decorative Trees dies were my “go-to” dies in 2024. I was happy to bring them out to play for this card. I had saved some scraps of shimmery, glimmery, sparkly papers from years past, which I used to create the two sparkly strips, the sparkly tree backdrop, and the Fresh Freesia colored overlay. The tree was adhered over a gold hoop, lending an almost snow globe effect. Silent Snowfall specialty paper, with its delicate embossed snowflakes, created the perfect background, while three black Shimmer Star Foam Stickers were used as embellishments. The Happy Winter sentiment, from the Snowflake Kisses stamp set, was heat embossed in white. The overall result was classy, elegant, and oh so easy!

  1. Very Elegant card.
Many times the CAS is best; my type of cards

  2. I absolutely adore the snowflake embossed paper. As soon as I saw this, I purchased it and have enjoyed using it sooooo much! I was really excited to see how you had used it (I haven’t seen too many folks utilizing it yet). Thanks for all the inspiration you provide. I appreciate it – and your support so much!

  3. I know this is more simple with less layers than your favorite style, Ann, but for the record it is every bit the masterpiece! I love the shimmer and shine and bit of gold. Fabulous in every way!

  4. Ann, this is a gorgeous card, with all the sparkle and shimmer! Love the embossed dsp (what a time saver!) and that you used black for some of the elements. It looks so elegant with all the sparkle. Good for you for getting out of your comfort zone and making it CAS!

  5. Joanne James - The Crafty Owl

I love those trees too Ann and am totally kicking myself for not adding them to my collection! The addition of the gold hoop and those snippets of glimmer paper give this card a clean and simple elegance and I love the hint of pink too – gorgeous!

  6. I’m totally with you on the glory of the Decorative Trees bundle – it’s possibly my all-time favourite Christmas set. I really like the classic colour scheme too, especially with the subtle touch of the glimmer papers. This is a super card. 🙂

  7. Ann, I just love the classic white and gold! Your shimmery tree is so beautiful and the gold hoop adds so much elegance! The embossed background and the glimmer banners and stars are lovely! Such a fabulous Christmas card. Have a wonderful week, My Friend!

  8. This is BEAUTIFUL! I just love the sparkle on your card as well as that sweet embossing background! I am curious as to how you make the upper diecut adhere to the glimmer paper—always a challenge for me!

  9. Wonder why comments from last week are showing up on this card? Anyway, I love all the sparkle for your Christmas tree! And I like how you used the foam star stickers on this card too, they’re not just for Halloween. I love your elegant and sparkly Christmas card!

  10. Everyone is talking about leaves, but I’m seeing a Christmas tree. It is gorgeous. So fancy like a tuxedo, yet modern in some ways. I love it.
