Spooky Halloween

I LOVE making Halloween cards. My son can attest to that. Even at age 36, he and his wife still get their fair share of them. Even their dog, Auntie Kia, gets Halloween goodie bags. Hers are filled with homemade doggie treats. Every Halloween I bring baskets full of Halloween treat bags for people and pups when we go to dog shows. This year I will make goodie bags for the dogs in Nueve’s obedience class. Yep, I LOVE making Halloween cards and treat bags. Today’s Spooky Halloween card is the first of this year’s stash. It’s Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players!

It’s Sketch Week at The Paper Players and what a great sketch the talented Jan has for us. This layer lover’s heart was aflutter when I saw it. I can’t wait to see what YOU create with it.  But before you head off to gather your stamps, papers and inks, please stop by and leave my “Teamies” some “Comment Love”. It brightens our day!

I’m a pushover when it comes to dies. Truth be told, there were two reasons why I purchased Stampin’ Up!’s Spooky Halloween bundle: the dies and the adorable “Frankenpup” image. Although I did not use the dog image on this card (it will be used on the treat bags for Nueve’s puppy pals), I did use this spooky haunted house die cut. Created from Basic Black cardstock, it was easy to add Lemon Lolly cardstock behind it to illuminate the windows and door. The three different patterns of paper all come from the Spooky Sweet Specialty Designer Series Paper Collection. This collection includes patterned paper, precut images, and cut-apart scenes. I bought it because it is perfect for creating tags, which I will need for all the doggie treat bags I will be creating. I am sure I will have lots of help from Nueve, Sixxy and Uncle Q! After all, they are great at helping me photograph my cards at the tree ring in my backyard. Nueve is making sure everything is perfect!

One of my favorite things about this card are the Shimmer Star Foam Stickers. What great little accents! They are the perfect embellishment for finishing off this Spooky Halloween card.

I like making Halloween card too Ann, although no-one really sends them here. Maybe I need to send them to all my American friends. Anyway, I digress – I love the detail on this spooky house and those stars are fab too!

  2. This is adorable, Ann! I think Halloween and autumn cards are my very favorite type of cards to make : ) Love what you’ve done with the DSP and your cute little haunted house. I am ready to leave summer behind and start spooky season!

  3. I share your love of making Halloween cards, Ann and this one is fabulous! Love the haunted house and the big circle like a big full moon! I think it’s wonderful that you create all the treat bags and I’m sure the pups will help supervise that as well (that picture made me smile!)

  4. Halloween is my favorite time for crafting! Great spooky card!

  5. How exciting to see a Halloween card in the gallery! SO cute and I am thinking those little stars are just the ticket for holiday creating!

Ann, I just LOVE Halloween cards, too! They are my favorite to create. This DSP background is fabulous and the pops of pink add so much detail. That spooky house would scare me away from Trick or Treating. LOL! SO fun!

  7. Fun and cute card, congrats 😊💐 happy day

Claire… love that you are onto your Halloween stash!!

  9. I’m not a Halloween person; never was, even as a child. but you have made a really cute card.
The only Halloween stamp that I own; says ‘Happy Halloween’ and that came with a mixture of other stamps.

  10. Halloween is a tradition that I struggle to understand but I know that it’s a big thing in the States. I do admire the way you’ve put together this card though. Your take on the sketch is spot on and I love the little details: the neutral but textured card front, the little pops of pink border that really lift the whole design and those super little star embellishments. Thank you for making the sketch really sing! 🙂

  11. Ann, I LOVE this card. I also love the story of your love of Halloween and making cards and treat bags. The dogs/owners in Neuve’s obedience class will love that! I love the unexpected touch of pink – it really pops. Awesome take on the sketch

  12. So fun. I ordered two kits of the treat bag holders plus the DSP. I plan on making some with dog biscuits in them too. Of course pumpkin biscuits. I hope I can find my dog Halloween stamps. I need a cat one also. Pieces from the little treat holders will be used on the Halloween cards for my seniors at the nursing home as well as some of the fun DSP.

  13. Super card as usual, Ann! Thanks for pointing out the stars. What a great extra touch! Love to Nueve, Sixxy and Uncle Q from Butterscotch.

  14. What a fun layout for your Halloween card. I have a very similar die with a house like that so I may have to use your idea. (I’m a little burned out on Halloween cards right now. Just finished making 170+ that I give to 4 care centers to use.)

YAY to you! I have never made huge batches of Halloween cards… great idea. I do make 300+ baby cards for the maternity ward at the hospital… so I understand being spent on a theme! Congrats on the donation.

That’s a great card. You and I differ when it comes to Halloween : (
